United Way
Greetings!

Friday, Feb. 8, was the 103rd anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America. As we celebrate, we should reflect on what Scouting accomplished during the last year.

It's also important to look ahead. America continues to need Scouting and Scouting needs to focus on continuing to serve our youth members. With your help, the Boy Scouts of America will continue to reach and serve youth in order to help them grow into productive and strong citizens.

Thanks to all who help teach our Scouts valuable lessons each week throughout our council.

Assist Our Friends of Scouting Campaign
The success of our Scouting program can be attributed to many factors. The quality of our programs and facilities are due in large part to the financial support of our Scout families and leaders. The council's Friends of Scouting campaign is our annual fundraising drive. More than 23 percent of our programs and services are funded by Friends of Scouting.  Read more...

Selling Camp Cards Helps Scouts Attend
Summer Camp; 50-Percent Commission

Please welcome our volunteers to your Blue & Gold Banquets and other gatherings as they share the Scouting story and ask for your financial support.
Scouts and Venturers can earn their way to summer camp by selling Camp Cards that offer discounts at many local retailers. This year's Camp Card program is expanded with regional offers for the St. Louis metro area, southeast Missouri area and southern Illinois area. Units receive 50 percent commission, and Scouts have a chance to win an iPad Mini for every 20 cards sold.
Put Summer Camp On Family Calendar
Parents are planning the family schedule for 2013. Find out when your troop or crew is going to summer camp and make sure your Scouts, parents and leaders have blocked out that week for summer fun. The following links provide the unit number, camp, campsite and date for this year's adventures. Download the list By Unit or By Camp.

Eagle Candidates Now Have Their Own Camp
New this summer is Eagle Trail Camp, a specialty camp that focuses on helping Scouts prepare to attain the rank of Eagle Scout. Some merit badges required for Eagle Scout are offered along with assistance on planning the Eagle Scout Service Project. Scouts can sign up individually or as a troop. Read more...

Ranger Program: This is the ultimate experience at camp! Each day, campers backpack to a different location at S bar F Scout ranch where they can blacksmith, take a sweat in a sweat lodge, climb on the ropes course, shoot a black powder rifle and swim in the Little St. Francis River.
Catholic Adventure Week: During this week, campers experience their faith while participating in high-adventure and other activities.
Swift Base: In addition to the standard Swift programs, consider Sailing & Fishing Adventure, Shooting Sports & STEM and Wilderness Survival, Climbing, Search & Rescue.

STEM Comes To Cub Scout Summer Camps
Your Cub Scouts and Webelos can take part in a variety of outdoor experiences throughout the summer. This year, some camps will focus on STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics). Other opportunities include the following:
