Greetings!
Scouting's experiences help young people develop skills and talents in four critical areas: learning, leadership, adventure and service. Learning is the focus during the first quarter of 2013. Adults can learn to be better leaders by attending the University of Scouting or Wood Badge. (See articles below.)
After participating in an activity, Scouts, parents and leaders should recognize how it promoted some type of learning, especially in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math).
Building a Pinewood Derby car is a great way for parents and Cub Scouts to learn about math and engineering. Here are some resources that might help your Cub Scout, den and pack have a successful and meaningful Pinewood Derby experience: Find more information at pinewoodderby.org.
Thanks to all who help teach our Scouts valuable lessons each week throughout our council.
