Greetings!

Join us for the first STEM University on Saturday, Dec. 29, at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Venturers will have an opportunity to earn the new Nova Award and other STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) advancement badges.

Activities start at 8 a.m. for Boy Scouts and Venturers, 9 a.m. for Cub Scouts and will conclude between 2 and 4 p.m. There also will be training for counselors and mentors.

Attend Fireside Chat On Strategic Plan

Scores of volunteers are working to develop the council's strategic plan for 2013-17. The plan will guide the council's strategic decisions on several areas, including outdoor programs, marketing, fundraising, leadership and membership. All volunteers are welcome to attend a Fireside Chat in their geographic region to learn more about the next Strategic Plan and provide feedback on the plan.

Training Required For All Volunteers   

New leaders are required to take Youth Protection Training within 30 days of registering and before serving as a leader with youth. An online course is available at http://myscouting.org. (You do not have to be a registered member or have an ID number to take the training.) Click on the E-Learning link to begin the training. 

Visit our New Leader Training page and follow the steps to become prepared to deliver a great program for your Scouts. Contact your unit leadership, unit commissioner or district executive if you need any assistance or have questions.

Council's Contingent Near Capacity For
First National Jamboree At Summit

Imagine 50,000 Scouts, Venturers, volunteers and staff from all over the country -- all gathered together for one big celebration of Scouting. Held once every four years, the 2013 National Jamboree is a chance to camp out with friends, meet new friends, try high-adventure activities, learn new skills and enjoy the outdoors.

During the 10-day event, there are exhibits, stadium shows with entertainment, opportunities to work on merit badges -- there's something for everybody.
