Greetings!

Thousands of Scouts distributed more than 1 million bags during the first Saturday of the Scouting for Food Good Turn, the largest single-day canned food drive in our community. Next Saturday, Nov. 17, they will return to collect bags filled with canned goods.

2012 i s the 28th year of Scouting for Food, during which our Scouts, parents and leaders collect enough food to assist approximately 500 pantries throughout our region with a four-month supply of food. More than 43 million items have been collected since 1985.

Leader Tip

Glove-Clothespin Relay
Equipment: For each team, a pair of large canvas work gloves, a jar with a lid, and five clothespins.
This relay is for everyone in the family. Divide the group into equal teams. In front of each team, place a pair of large canvas work gloves and a jar with a lid on it. Put five clothespins in the jar. On the signal, the first player in each team runs to the collection, puts on the gloves, empties the jar, picks up the pins, puts them back into the jar, screws on the lid, lays down the gloves, and runs back to tag the next player.
