A special pre-offer of Rhône wines from the highly anticipated 2015 vintage.

2015 Rhône Valley Futures Offer
2015 is promising to be a banner year for the key wine regions of France and Italy. A warm, relatively dry summer with cool nights produced well-ripened grapes and healthy conditions in the vineyards.Harvesting occurred under optimal conditions in virtually all the top regions. The only caveat was lower yields (10-30%) in Burgundy, Tuscany and Piedmont which will mean less availability and higher prices.

The Rhône Valley, both north and south, experienced an exceptional vintage in 2015, possibly the vintage of a generation. Reports from winemakers throughout the northern Rhône Valley indicate a potentially classic vintage. "2015 made some amazing grapes," said Jean-Louis Chave, whose Hermitage and St.-Joseph bottlings are perennial benchmarks for the region. The 2015 vintage in the southern Rhône Valley is shaping up to be an outstanding vintage with ripe and powerful wines- one of the best in the past 25 years. "Like the northern Rhone valley, the southern Rhône enjoyed a long, hot and dry growing season that produced nearly ideal grapes come harvest." (Wine Spectator, Nov. 20, 2015) The key grape varieties Grenache and Mourvedre did particularly well. As Marc Perrin (Château de Beaucastel and Famille Perrin) states, "They taste extraordinary. Everything is fermenting smoothly. It should be a really great vintage."

In anticipation of the release of this landmark 2015 vintage, we are offering" futures" pricing for the Rhône producers we import directly: Domaine Dumazet (northern Rhône ), Domaine La Bastide Saint Dominique (southern Rhône), and Domaine Nôtre Dame des Pallières (southern Rhône). Due to our privileged relationship with these wineries, they are willing to offer this 2015 vintage on an "en primeur" basis. Most of these wines are produced in limited quantities, however these producers are willing to offer these on a selective basis with very favorable pricing. - Jeff

Pierre Dumazet
Pierre Dumazet
Domaine Dumazet
Long-established estate of only 14 acres, famous for its wines from the top crus in the northern Rhône Valley; Condrieu, Côte Rôtie, Cornas and Saint Joseph. Very selective and mostly sold to Michelin-starred restaurants.  The vineyards are worked by hand and so is the harvest. Condrieu, world's best terroir for Viognier, produces a wine at Dumazet that is very rich with lots of minerality, among the best you can find. The Côte Rôtie, Cornas and Saint Joseph are 100 % Syrah from pure granite and slate soils, all hand-harvested and aged in oak barrels. They have clean, powerful fruit with lots of power and can age for decades for those who have the patience.

Domaine Notre Dame des Palières

This offering would not be complete without the most sought-after appellation after Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas. This family estate has roots in the 10th century and has been owned by the Roux family for 3 generations. Although humble and all natural, their wines are sold to top buyers on a global basis and have received accolades in the New York Times.
" Les Mourres" is from vineyards on the slopes of the Dentelles de Montmirail in soils which originate 200 million years ago. This wine is known for complexity, elegance and balance.
"Les Bois des Mourres" is from very old vines up to 80 years old planted in the best soils aged in oak barrels. This wine is very big and powerful, but still in balance. Both wines are predominantly Grenache with Syrah and Mourvèdre.
