Beringer Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon represents the best that the estate produces and is a beautiful expression of each vintage and the terroir of Napa Valley. The collaboration between winemaking and viticulture has been at the core of the Private Reserve's impressive quality since the first vintage crafted by Ed Sbragia in 1977. Laurie Hook (pictured above), the current winemaker, draws on her rich experience of working alongside Ed for over two decades as she blends only the best lots from their outstanding vineyards. Each vineyard is aged separately in new French oak for two years before blending, resulting in a wine of astounding elegance and structure. We have followed Beringer's Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon since the 1985 vintage, and have always found the wine to be outstanding!

The 2012 is shaping up to be one of the BEST, if not THE best, vintages in the last decade!

Having purchased Private Reserves for many years, I can attest that they age incredibly well. The 1991, one of the great successes of that vintage, is still aging beautifully at nearly 25 years of age. The sensational 2012 (10,000 cases) boasts an opaque purple color along with abundant aromas of charcoal, burning embers, creme de cassis, chocolate, blackberries and licorice. The long, complex, compelling, full-bodied texture along with terrific purity and a savory, rich mouthfeel result in a classic, quintessential Napa Cabernet Sauvignon to drink now and over the next 20-25 years."
