Dorm life is part of the college experience, but a UW-Milwaukee student has decided to room with a group of people who would've gone to college more than fifty years ago.

Ian McGibbon majors in art education. His room looks like a typical college dorm room except he lives in a senior living center on Milwaukee's lower east side.

He runs workshops in exchange for room and board. "It's like having that cross friendship is really amazing. And things people learn still at an older age amazes me," McGibbon said.

Turning 100 is a special milestone.

Now, the Galloway home for the aged-which began as the Hebrew Sheltering Home of Atlantic City in 1916, is celebrating its own 100th year. "How many homes for the aged survive 100 years? It's unusual," said Klein.

The recent news coverage of Hebrew Home at Riverdale nurse Chantelle Diabate and her determination to get to work in the midst of the recent snowstorm caught the attention of Mayor Bill de Blasio.  
 
As a result, he invited Chantelle as his special guest to his State of the City address, and featured Chantelle in his remarks.

Jewish Home's Plant For Life Program
Empowers Residents as Caregivers

The Jewish Home Family

The Jewish Home Family has launched a program called 'Plant for Life' that empowers residents as caregivers for plants and vegetable gardens.
 
Together with volunteers from Yachad and ARC of Rockland County, residents at the Jewish Home at Rockleigh potted the plants and placed them on the windowsills of residents who choose to spend the majority of their time in their rooms. Volunteers were paired with residents to care for the plants together.
