River Garden Celebrates 69th Year
Fun, laughter and lots of activity best describe the day. River Garden Hebrew Home celebrated its 69th year with a wonderful Anniversary Day festival. What started as a humid, overcast and rain-threatening morning turned out to be a beautiful day. More than 500 members of the community, ranging in age from infants to seniors, gathered on the River Garden campus to join in the celebration, which included a barbeque, pony rides, face painting and clowns, balloon artistry, games, and a bounce house. Many also attended the annual meeting of River Garden Senior Services, held in the Cohen Auditorium.

Village Shalom (Overland Park, KS): Village Shalom to Personalize 'SevenDays' Initiative for Residents, Staff
April 13, 2014, changed everything. Since the tragic shootings at the Jewish Community Campus and Village Shalom that day, the entire community has been grappling with how to turn a violent act of hate into a positive expression of kindness and unity. "SevenDays - Make a Ripple, Change the World" took shape to address that dichotomy. The interfaith, community-wide initiative offered a series of events promoting faith, love and kindness throughout the week of April 7-13, 2015, to honor the memory of Terri LaManno, Reat Underwood and Dr. William Corporon.
More than 2,000 people from across the Kansas City area filed past Village Shalom along the 3.5-mile route of the SevenDays Peace Walk.

Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home (Chelsea, MA): A Better Nursing Home Exists
When Barry Berman was looking for an alternative to the traditional nursing home, he stumbled across a concept called the Green House Project that seemed promising. What followed was a multi-year project to build, from the ground up, a nursing home that would look totally different from the traditional model. It would be a home, not a hospital, no matter how sick residents were, and it would allow them to make their own choices and live their own lives.

Alzheimer's and sexual consent was one of the topics discussed on HLN's Dr. Drew On Call television program.
In addition to in-studio panelists to debate the topic, Dr. Drew interviewed Dan Reingold, President and CEO of the Hebrew Home at Riverdale, via phone regarding the Hebrew Home's pioneering sexual expression policy and how long-term care facilities can and should develop criteria for this complex issue.
