Cedar Village (Mason, OH): Opening Minds through Art

 

We are excited to announce that registration is open for our 2015 Facilitator Training and scholarships are available! 


Scholarships are available thanks to a generous grant from the Alzheimer's Foundation of America. The deadline for scholarship application is February 13, 2015.

The training is open to healthcare professionals, service learning educators, independent artists and others interested in implementing an evidence-based intergenerational art program for people with dementia.

The session will be held June 2-5th 2015 at Cedar Village Retirement Community in Mason, Ohio.

Robert Goldstein has been named chief executive officer of Menorah Manor, a senior health care organization based in St. Petersburg, Florida. Goldstein has worked in the senior healthcare field for over 30 years, and has spent 18 of those years with Menorah Manor as the administrator and chief operating officer.

Montefiore is excited to announce President and CEO Lauren B. Rock, MBA, LNHA, received the 2014 Hillcrest Hospital Community Service Award for her outstanding and significant contributions to the community. Ms. Rock was presented the award by Brian Harte, M.D., president of Hillcrest Hospital, at the monthly Community Advisory Council luncheon recently held at Hillcrest Hospital.

Charles E. Smith Life Communities Expands Coalition Working with ElderSAFE Center

Charles E. Smith Life Communities, the largest senior services provider in the region, welcomed advocates for seniors, including local, state, and Federal representatives, to inaugurate the ElderSAFE Center, which officially launched in September 2014. The ElderSAFE Center was established to safeguard seniors from abuse and to provide safe, temporary shelter for abused seniors. This is the first program of its kind in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

Jewish Senior Services (Fairfield, CT):
New Nursing Home Designed to Make Seniors Feel at Home


In Bunny Kasper's travels across the U.S. looking for ways to improve the lives of people in the care of Jewish Senior Services, there was one nursing home model that stood out from the rest -- the "household model." On Thursday, Kasper was one of more than 50 people to watch the last steel beam lifted into place on the frame of JSS's new $75 million campus on Park Avenue -- the first "household model" facility in the state. The white beam was adorned with colorful signatures of hundreds of residents, JSS staff, construction crew members and city officials.

Governor's Panel on Excellence in Long-Term Care Awards Fifth Consecutive Gold Seal to Morse Geriatric Center       

 

In its renewal application, MorseLife continues to maintain its Gold Seal Award from the State of Florida, The Governor's Panel on Excellence in Long-Term Care. The nonprofit senior care continuum has achieved this honor annually since 2009, reflecting the level of care provided in its 160 bed long-term care residence, MorseLife Geriatric Center, and its 120 bed short-term rehahabilitation residence, the Sondra and David S. Mack Pavilion.

Shalom Cares (Aurora, CO):
Shalom Cares has a Full-Time Russian Translator Thanks to the Walter Goldberg Family Foundation  

  

At Shalom Park Nursing Home, there are nearly 30 residents whose primary language is Russian. Katya Monasryrskaya is our full-time Russian Translator.
Katya 's position is made possible by the generosity of the family of the late Walter Goldberg. Walter provided support for Shalom Cares residents since our opening, and Mel and Anne Goldberg-Wernimont, David Goldberg, and Julie Goldberg have chosen to continue his commitment to Shalom Cares.
