Hi Guys!
I realize it's been quite a while since I've written but things have been NUTS! A family crisis came along at Christmas (which has since resolved itself - and in a positive manner), and then I wound up getting ill for a fair bit of time, which put me behind. But all excuses aside, I'm doing better, things are going better, and I am swimming my way back up. With effort, I may find myself only ridiculously rather than hopelessly behind.
I am in the process of doing a big mail-out this weekend. Email me IMMEDIATELY if there is something you should have received and you haven't. Be sure to tell me what it is. We are operating on the honor system here (although I do know that I haven't promised anyone ten million dollars, a trip to the Bahamas and a hottie to go with, so don't bother trying. Heck, if I had that I'd be sunning away the day myself and to heck with the deadlines!) Email to use is: catadamsfans@gmail.com with the re reading: I owe, I owe, so off to work I go. (Or something of that nature anyway) I NEED YOUR HELP!
That's right folks. I need you. If you love the books, I need you to go onto Amazon.com and look them up. Write a review (if you haven't already). Right now there are these hideous one star reviews at the very top of the pile being listed as the most helpful. Needless to say, this doesn't help my cause. I realize that not everybody loves my work. I get it. But if you DO, I could sure use the boost. Because seeing those one star reviews is very discouraging to me as an author. ALL YOUR WISHES is coming out this fall! The next of the Celia Graves adventures it involves our intrepid heroine running up against a metaphysical challenge she's never met before - the Djinn. Actually, an Ifrit, the most evil of all of the powerful "genies." His name is Hasan and he was personally responsible for the eruption at Mt. Vesuvius. He's escaped, thanks to the ghost of Connor Finn and his cronies and it's up to Celia to help her client find a way to put him back in the bottle. The scene on the cover comes from a shoot-out on the drawbridge at Treasure Island, Florida. Celia's sitting on the window ledge of a vintage red Cadillac with huge tail fins. I was able to use research from my trip to Treasure Island a couple of years ago with my dear friend Pam, and my memories of her father's old Caddy. Consider it a shout-out to her for having hung out with me basically since my birth. J The uncorrected proofs are coming next week. I am therefore doing a giveaway. Since I'm not up to creating a puzzle this morning, just email me with: I want it. I need it. GIMME! In the re line to: catadamsfans@gmail.com. Since I have actually found myself a part-time assistant, I actually think I might get it out to you in a timely fashion. Barring disaster-or another bout of pneumonia. (UGH.) FAIR WARNING - A major character dies in this book. I know there are a lot of fans who hate that sort of thing (and by extension, the author.) BUT I truly believe that you can't have a large group of people battling uber powerful bad-ass paranormal villains and have them all walk away unscathed-or even scathed. The baddies don't go down without a fight, and sometimes that leads to casualties. I was very sad writing those scenes. It actually hurt me to kill off one of my imaginary friends. But I did it, because I thought it was the right thing for the book and the series. SHORT STORY COLLECTION/PATIENCE MY ASS - is stalled out because of my health problems. It's not dead yet, but it's probably on life support at this point. I will keep you advised. If I don't come up with a good solution, I may just start adding the stories as a bonus to the newsletter one at a time. Let me know your thoughts via email: catadamsfans@gmail.com I will be attending Fan Expo/Dallas Comicon again this year: June 3-6. Look for me at Kevin J. Anderson's along with Kevin, Rachel Caine, Quincy J. Allen and others to get signed books, pictures, and a great time. I haven't been able to attend anything else thus far this year because of illness, so it may be your only chance to see me live for a bit. COME ONE, COME ALL. Best wishes for a happy spring. Hope to see you guys at the con and hear from you via email. Oh, and the next Fae book is being finished and sent off to the beta readers this week. I'm very excited about it. I think it's going to make you all very happy. At least I hope so. Okay, gotta run. Later. |
