February in Michigan can be a dreary month, especially if the weather is inhospitable, but it has a few bright days. There's Paczki Day, for example, or Fat Tuesday, when you simply must have one of those wonderful oversized filled doughnuts. My favorites are prune and custard.

Then there's Valentine's Day. I love this holiday. I have several Valentine-themed pictures and figurines in my house, and I collect vintage Valentine cards. I love to make (and eat) heart-shaped cakes and cookies. Heart-shaped anything, actually.

Once I wrote a book featuring a Victorian house known as Valentine Villa. Readers are still buying copies of that book,
Love Deadly  Love. Originally published by Hilliard and Harris, it was chosen by Worldwide Mystery Bookclub for reprinting. This novel of romantic suspense is a stand-alone, rather than part of the Foxglove Corners mystery series which now claims all of my attention and effort.

Speaking of which, The Stone Collie, #20 in the Foxglove Corners series, is now available in e-book format and trade paperback. My publisher, Wings ePress, now uses Create Space to print our books. They produce a handsome paperback a little larger than the previous Wings books.

Speaking of Wings, there are several new people in key positions and a new website, currently under construction: http://www.books-by-wings-epress.com You'll find The Stone Collie described on the 'Home' page. Books can no longer be ordered at the old site. I usually deal with Amazon.

Those searching for a book that seamlessly mixes romance, suspense, and mystery will want to check out Suzanne Hurley's new Samantha Barclay novel, Love? Her book came out in January. I'd like to mention that the covers of both Love? and The Stone Collie were designed by talented artist, Trisha Fitzgerald.

In Love? Samantha's wedding day is fast approaching. Unfortunately she is beset by doubts. Does she really want to exchange her exciting life for marriage? In the midst of her angst, she makes a gruesome discovery in the basement of her house.

I'm pleased with the progress I'm making on my work-in-progress, titled Ginger's House. I started writing it on New Year's Day and have passed one hundred pages. It's fun to write and I think will be fun to read.

I keep adding books to my Kindle and pre-ordering others by my favorite authors, for example, Crowned and Dangerous by Rhys Bowen, coming in August. It's always a good day when I have a new Rhys Bowen book to read.

I finished the Lady Julia Grey series by Deanna Raybourn and discovered the Rex Graves series by C. S. Challinor when I read Christmas is Murder. Among my "especially enjoyed books" were Kathleen McGurl's The Emerald Comb and two suspense novels by Marlys Millhiser that I missed the first time around: Michael's Wife and Willing Hostage. I remember at the time I didn't buy these books because they didn't have the supernatural element I always look for. Reading these fast-paced suspense novels in 2016, it's fascinating to imagine how events would have been different if the characters had cell phones and computers.

I'd like to remind m readers to contact me at my new e-mail address: Endora0922@gmail.com I still receive an occasional message sent to my AOL address, which I haven't closed yet. I don't check the AOL address every day.

Happy Valentine's Day! Happy End-of-Winter! I'll be back in March with more news.
