Blessed Ostara! Spring is just about to spring, so to speak!
We have spring in our yard. The daffodils are blooming, and I'm looking forward to putting in lettuce next week for an early crop. I want to take the container berries and move them to the Faerie Garden, and then use the big containers they are in for the vining plants. The plant towers will have the other veggies in them-the lettuce and chard and carrots. I'm so ready to garden that I've had to make my friends restrain me till all danger of frost is past. ~laughs~ Anybody else in that frame of mind?
Apple is growing up so fast, and he's pretty much integrated into our household. He's a little ball of energy, he is, and so loving and yet...he's all boy in terms of energy and bounciness. (Yes, he's been neutered, we never will have a cat we don't spay or neuter). Here's a few pics of the girls and Apple. It's so funny to see Morgana-our 15.5 lb. part Bengal, running around as Apple chases her. Then she chases him. And it goes on and on.
Okay...down to book business. I have some news...and it's both sad and yet opens a new door:
I'm just going to be honest and clear here: Darkness Raging (Feb 2016) will be the last Otherworld book Berkley will be publishing.
I'm not going into the discussion-other than sales for that series are definitely down, and they really want me to focus on the two new series I have coming out (and please, don't boycott those out of spite-I would really be disappointed if you missed out on what I consider two fun and great new series from me because of this decision. Honestly, it is just a pure business perspective and I was given no option).
I'm really hoping you love the Fly By Night Series, and the Whisper Hollow Series. These can be ongoing series that don't necessarily need to be read in order, and I'm hoping that you love them as much as you love my other work.
What does this mean for Otherworld?
What this does mean is that I will be finishing the series on my own. I don't have the dates or details-my agent will be helping me do this so things should run fairly smoothly and in a way, it's exciting-I'm becoming a hybrid author, which means I'll retain more control over some of my work. In some ways, this may also be better because if the demand for the work is there, it means I can take the series on into other directions after I wrap up the spirit seals arc.
Meanwhile, as some of you may have intuited from some of my Twitter tweets, I am doing my best to get a YA series going that I'd love to write. Wish me luck in this, because I think it will be one of those that my adult readers may like as well. And in other news, with Berkley's decision to pull out of Otherworld, I will definitely be focusing on putting up more short pieces/stories on my own. In fact, that leads to:
