Dear Neighbor,

Moments ago the General Assembly  passed an essential services budget that will  fund programs that are critical to vulnerable seniors and children.

While budget negotiations continue, the House and Senate approved legislation that appropriates $2.25 billion to programs including Home Services for people with disabilities, the Community Care Program allowing seniors to remain in their homes, law enforcement funding to keep our community safe, and Childcare Services for working families.

Today, the House also passed a measure that would continue pay for state employees. The Senate still hast to act on this amendment before it is sent to the governor.

No one should lose critical, life-saving services because of political fights in Springfield.

While we are in continuous session working on a budget, the General Assembly has acted to ensure these programs survive the shutdown.
