Interim Reports Sent Home Today Grades 1 - 5
Please talk to your child about their progress so far this nine weeks.  If grades aren't where they should be, encourage them to make sure they are turning in all assignments and putting forth their best effort every day!

Meeting or Exceeding Growth Targets
Each morning students are reminded that they come to school to learn and to work hard to meet or exceed their growth targets.  Students in Kindergarten and 1st grade finished MAP testing this week and students in grades 2 - 5  will be participating in the assessments next week.  These
mid-year MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) assessments are given
to check how students are progressing toward meeting their growth targets. Please ask your child how they did on these assessments and encourage them to always try their best!

Linking the Classroom to Home:

The tip for the week is to talk with your child about the many ways adults use mathskills.  Shopping, cooking, scheduling, and managing money are just a few ways math helps us in our lives.  Discuss people who use math in their jobs.  Some examples include mechanics, painters, builders, chefs, tailors, store clerks, bankers, delivery drivers, accountants, engineers, and scientists. It is important children understand the usefulness of math, to solve problems and think logically every day!   Thank you for helping to spread the word- math skills are invaluable!

Gold Slips
Gold Slips are given to students by staff members for many reasons. December Gold Slips will be given for showing the character trait of Caring.  Students can demonstrate this trait by being kind, compassionate, expressing gratitude, helping people in need, and forgiving others. Students come to the office and put their gold slip in our Treasure Box. Every Friday, Mrs. Bray picks 15 -20 Gold Slips from the Treasure Box and calls those students to the office for a prize.
