HAPPY THANKSGIVING
On behalf of the Groveport Elementary Staff, I would like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.  It is our hope that you enjoy time with friends and family during the holiday and have a safe, happy, healthy Thanksgiving!

Focus on Learning
Students in Mrs. Garn's Kindergarten class practiced beginning sounds as they discussed what they like to eat for Thanksgiving dinner.  The students had to say what letter the food started with and then write it on their plate.

Linking the Classroom to Home:

Keep the at home leaning going, especially over the holiday.
Thanksgiving is a time of traditions and gathering with family and friends. There are many opportunities for activities to continue learning while school is out of session. Here are some ways to help your child during the holiday.  1. Talk about your family's traditions.  Have your child write a letter (younger students may draw a picture while you help them write a few sentences) to a relative telling what they are thankful for or what they know about the origin of this national holiday.  2. Take time together for board and card games.  These can be fun as well as very educational. 3. Continue reading together 15 - 20 minutes daily. Your child should have books from the school library or look for online sites with information about the first Thanksgiving to read and discuss together.  4. Don't forget about the Groveport Math-a-Thon and practice math facts for 5-15 minutes each day!
Spirit Week
Check out these pictures from Spirit Week.  Teachers and students had fun dressing in theme each day.  Monday - 80's day, Tuesday - Cruiser wear, Wednesday - Dress like your favorite movie character, Thursday - Tie Dye Day, and Friday - Favorite Team.

Gold Slips
Gold Slips are given to students by staff members for many reasons. November Gold Slips will be given for showing the character trait of Citizenship.  Students can demonstrate this characteristic by doing their part to make their school and community a better place, cooperate, obey laws and rules, and respect authority. Students come to the office and put their gold slip in our Treasure Box. Every Friday, Mrs. Bray picks 15 -20 Gold Slips from the Treasure Box and calls those students to the office for a prize. Gold Slip winners for November 20th- Abigail Cline, Taze Owens, Ethan Wicker, Mandy Wu, Sir'Myah Slate-Carroll, Aria Cook, Ty Cooper, Dillon Noland, Cooper Patton, Jayden Horn, Kathleen Slaby, and Cassady Fannin. Congratulations!
