Principal's Message
Cold Weather
As the weather gets colder, please make sure your child dresses for the cold temperatures (i.e. hats, gloves, jackets/coats, scarves). Students will be going outside for recess unless the temperature falls below 25 degrees. Please ask your child to check the lost and found because there are a lot of coats in the bin.  Any items not claimed by Thanksgiving break will be donated.

Superintendent's Challenge Food Drive!
The Superintendent's Challenge ended today.  A big thank you to everyone who brought in food items.  These items will be delivered to the Groveport Food Pantry early next week.

Focus on Learning

Mrs. Mosure's 4th grade students work on identifying main idea and key details.
Students read a selection and then completed a tabletop graphic organizer to
prepare to write their summary of the nonfiction selections.
Positive Conduct Referrals

At times teachers have to write students up for negative behavior that is beyond what can be handled in the classroom.  Instead of only doing office referrals for negative behaviors, we decided to also include positive write-ups. These Positive Conduct Referrals will be written for students who exhibit good behavior and are a role model to other students. William Ramey, Jr. was selected by his teacher, Miss Goldman, for making academic improvements, participating in class, and being a great friend to everyone. Jared Beveridge was also referred by his teacher Mrs. Geisler.  Mrs. Geisler described Jared as truly having a caring spirit.  He has befriended a couple of students who had no one to play with at recess. Jared is a great kid! Congratulations William and Jared- Keep it up!!

Linking the Classroom to Home:

Provide a quiet time and place for homework and go over assignments together. This sets a routine and atmosphere conducive for extending learning at home. Be a homework consultant, not a tutor.Homework is your child's work, not yours. It is not necessary that you sit by your child to make sure every answer is correct; mistakes on homework are one way your child's teacher learns what concepts need more explanation. Instead, act as a consultant, be available to offer support and help when your child asks and making sure he/she gives their best effort and attempts to answer every question or problem.  Finally, have your student explain papers and tests sent home in their book bag as this internalizes learning of new concepts. Talk with your child's teacher about an appropriate amount of time to spend on homework each evening.

News from the Nurse
It is that time of the year again, when we are starting to see sniffles, coughing, and sore throats. I want to remind all parents that the Nurse is unable to accept hand written notes to administer over the counter medication. District policy and the nursing board policy requires that we have an over the counter form filled out by the parent on any medication that you may want your child to have throughout the school day. If it is a prescription you will need a prescribed medication form filled out by the physician. If you need any of those forms please let your teacher know and I can get the form to them.

Gold Slips
Gold Slips are given to students by staff members for many reasons. November Gold Slips will be given for showing the character trait of Citizenship.  Students can demonstrate this characteristic by doing their part to make their school and community a better place, cooperate, obey laws and rules, and respect authority. Students come to the office and put their gold slip in our Treasure Box. Every Friday, Mrs. Bray picks 15 -20 Gold Slips from the Treasure Box and calls those students to the office for a prize. Gold Slip winners for November 13th- Aliya Fenner, Alivia Barrett, Andy Wu, Isabella Mollette, Kennedy Rufus, Rachel Payne, Josie Whitesel, Edward Simmons, Emaleigh Arcand, Sam Lowther, Stevan Stewart, Tyler Brown, Deshaun Grey, Sam Robinson, and Caden Vargo Congratulations!
