Principal's Message
Parent- Teacher Conferences are next Thursday, October 8th from 4:00 - 7:15 and the following Tuesday, October 13 from 4:00 - 7:15. If you haven't scheduled a time yet, it isn't too late, please contact your child's teacher. Conferences are an excellent time to meet one-on-one with your child's teacher, see your child's classroom, and discuss how your child is progressing. The purpose of Parent-Teacher Conferences is to share information and really focus on what is important: your child making academic growth every day. We realize that 15 minutes isn't very long, but this is a great chance to check-in and start to build a partnership with your child's teacher if you haven't already.  I have a few suggestions to help make the most out of the meeting.
1.Please do your best to be on time for the conferences.
2Make a list of questions to ask diring the conference and/or a list of anything you would like to share about your child.
3. Be prepared to hear both positive feedback and areas for improvement - just like you teachers want your child to succeed and we all have things that we need to work on.
4. Schedule a follow up time to talk - it could be by phone, or email, or notes in the agenda book.  Keep the partnership going throughout the year.
5. Talk to you child about what you learned at the conference.  Let your child know you will support learning at home and that you and the teacher are working together to help them.

Thank you,
April Bray
Principal

Positive Conduct Referrals

Daniel Nuakey
At times teachers have to write students up for negative behavior that is beyond what can be handled in the classroom.  Instead of only doing office referrals for negative behaviors, we decide to continue with  the positive write-ups we started last year. These Positive Conduct Referrals will be written for students who exhibit good behavior and are a role model to other students.  Daniel is a 3rd grader in Mrs. Geisler's class. Mrs. Geisler has referred Daniel because he has a helpful, kind, supportive attitude.  He is a conscientious student who always does his best!  Mrs. Geiser wrote, "Daniel has a great personality and I'm lucky to have him in my class!"

Congratulations Daniel- Keep it up!

Gold Slips
Gold Slips are given to students by staff members for many reasons. September Gold Slips will be given for showing the character trait of Respect.  Students can demonstrate this characteristic by treating others the way they want to be treated, being considerate and honoring the feelings, opinions, and property of others, dealing peacefully with anger, insults, and disagreements, using good manners, and no bad language. Also, students can show self-respect by being good to themselves, taking care of themselves, and not putting themselves down. Students come to the office and put their gold slip in our Treasure Box. Every Friday, the Principal picks 15 -20 Gold Slips from the Treasure Box and calls those students to the office for a prize. Gold Slip winners - Caden Vargo, Mia Mills, Josie Whitesel, Addison Estrom, Ty Cooper, Addison Cothern, Emily Evans, Edward Simmons, Landon Karshner, Janessa Phandouangsy, Landon Karshner, Eric Schneider, Maila Pynangvong, Joe Booker, and Yanneiry Martinez
Congratulations - Keep it up!
