Assessment Information

Our 1st week of PARCC testing is finished and so far so good.  We had very few computer issues and most students attended each day which will help with make-up testing.

Please look at the testing dates below and help your child be successful on the tests by making sure he/she gets plenty of sleep the night before and eats a healthy breakfast. There are also practice tests and sample questions students and families can check out on the PARCC website.  I encourage parents to take a look at these practice items.  Please go to http://practice.parcc.testnav.com at the top of the website choose Test Preparation.  The drop down menu has sample items, tutorials, and practice tests.

Thank you to Mr. Derry from the GOOD (Going On Or Defeated)

beginning, middle, and ending sounds to produce words.

Mrs. Jahn's students are using 2 pennies to remember to give their
2 cents when writing their opinion papers. These 1st graders will write
their opinion and give at least 2 reasons to support that opinion.
Artist of the Week

Jazlyn Winski

The fifth grade art club students made these fabulous polyhedrons.  This was a challenging project where the students had to connect thirty pieces together in a specific order.  Jazlyn Winski was selected by Mrs. Sperk because of her determination and awesome project.  Jazlyn is in Mrs. Chandler's class.  This is her second year at Groveport Elementary.  She has an older brother, Deven, who is in seventh grade.  Jazlyn enjoys swimming and painting.  She likes using tempera paint to paint landscapes.  Her favorite color is green.  She also loves polar bears and she has been collecting polar bear items since she was six. Congratulations Jazlyn for being our Artist of the Week!

Positive Conduct Referrals
At times teachers have to write students up for negative behavior that is beyond what can be handled in the classroom.  This year instead of only doing office referrals for negative behaviors, we decide to also include positive write-ups. These Positive Conduct Referrals will be written for students who exhibit good behavior and are a role model to other students.  Sidney Waihenya was referred by Mrs. Brunner for being a student who always tries to do the right thing.  She is a very well mannered and extremely poised young lady.  She is always willing to help out other students and staff members. Madison Molyneaux was referred by Mr. Fosnaugh for being a star student! She is a perfect role model, works hard, and is caring.  We are so lucky to have these students at Groveport Elementary!

Gold Slips
Gold Slips are given to students by staff members for many reasons. February Gold Slips will be given for showing the character trait of caring.  Students can demonstrate this characteristic by being kind, compassionate, thankful, forgiving, and helpful. Students come to the office and put their gold slip in our Treasure Box. Every Friday, the Principal picks 15 -20 Gold Slips from the Treasure Box and calls those students to the office for a prize. Gold Slip winners from February 13th -  Alyvia Blankenship, Charles Brookins, Trey Blue, Ty Cooper, David Cook, Kylie Cooks, Isaac Diawara, Addison Edstrom, Darthaniel Hamilton, Tessa Hilligas, Keira Hilling, Cale Hilligas, Gabe Llewellyn, Kyra McCormick, Anish Patel, Marley Sheehan, Aniyah Trogdon, Sammie Whitesel, Devin Williams, and Jazlyn Winski.
Congratulations - Keep it up!
