Principal's Message
Another Great Week here at Groveport Elementary!

You should have received your child's report card.  If you haven't already, please make sure to sign and return the envelope, so we will have it for next nine weeks. Parent Teacher conferences are coming up and this is the perfect opportunity to meet with your child's teacher to discuss how they are doing this 1st half of the year.  Conferences will be held on February 10th from 4:00 - 7:30 and February 12th from 4:00 - 7:00.

Kindness and Compassion Club

Groveport Elementary has taken on the Rachel's Challenge program for the 2014-2015 school year.  Students have pledged to be kind and compassionate and accept each others differences. The fourth grade students have taken on more of a serious role by starting a kindness club. The students meet weekly promoting kindness by hanging signs, sending kindness grams, picking up around the school, and reading kindness quotes on the morning announcements. New members have started and the acts of kindness will continue to be promoted. Remember, one act of kindness starts a chain reaction for kindness to spread among others!
Artist of the Week

Collin Hart

Kindergarten students made these fantastic penguins.  We first experimented with paint and mixing colors to create a colorful background.  Next, we learned how to draw a penguin and practiced our cutting and gluing skills. We collaged all of the pieces together and then painted snowflakes using O-tips. Collin Hart was selected by Mrs. Sperk for his wonderful project. Collin is a kindergarten student in Mrs. Garn's class. Collin has a younger sister, Olivia who is three years old.  He loves to use markers and some of his favorite things to draw are elephants and penguins. Collin's favorite color is red.  He also enjoys playing outside and soccer.

Congratulations Collin for being our Artist of the Week!

Positive Conduct Referrals

At times teachers have to write students up for negative behavior that is beyond what can be handled in the classroom.  This year instead of only doing office referrals for negative behaviors, we decide to also include positive write-ups. These Positive Conduct Referrals will be written for students who exhibit good behavior and are a role model to other students.  Helena Barnhart was chosen by her 2nd grade teacher, Mr. Fosnaugh for being an absolute awesome student!  She is always willing to help others.  She is a determined student who never lets a challenge pass her by.  Spencer Yoshikawa was chosen by his teacher, Miss Goldman, for always coming to school prepared and ready to learn.  He knows all 80 of his sight words!  He is kind, helpful, and respectful to everyone. Congratulations Helena and Spencer - Keep it up!!
