Principal's Message
Happy New Year!

Welcome back staff and students.  The first semester is almost complete and I look forward to a successful 2nd semester and 2015.  Students tend to really take off and progress in their learning the 3rd nine weeks of school.  Please continue to partner with us to ensure your child meets or exceeds their growth targets. Here are some ideas that you can do to help your child.

1. Make sure your child is in school and on time each day.
2. Check their folders and sign agenda books.
3. Make sure they are completing homework and reading nightly.
4. Reward their efforts.
5. Stay positive and be involved.

As a staff we are always talking about meeting or exceeding growth targets.  We encourage the students to work hard each day and we appreciate all the support from the parents.  If you have questions, please contact me or your child's teacher.

New Staff Member - Mrs. Nutter

Mrs. Nutter - Title I Reading Teacher

Mrs. Nutter joined our staff on December 18th as the Title I Reading teacher after Mrs. Olson retired. She is very excited to be at Groveport Elementary and we are happy to welcome her to the GE family.

Her education includes a bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education from Muskingum College and an additional license in Special Education from Ashland University. In her spare time she likes to cook, knit and travel. She lives in Columbus with husband Alex and dog Sophie.

Friendly Reminders

Student Drop Off - Students should not be dropped off before 8:40 AM.  We don't have supervision before this time and students will be outside in the cold temperatures. Also, parents please do not walk your child to class.  All drop offs must be in front of the school or at the Stop Sign located in the front hallway.

Car Rider Pick-up - Please continue to use Middle School Central's parking lot.  Students will be walked out to the end of the drive at 3:35.  The weather is going to be very cold the next couple months, but please continue to get out of your car and meet your child.  Also, please follow the pick-up procedures, follow the flow of traffic around the parking lot and do not cut in line.  This is so we can keep all the students safe.

Visitor Badges - When you visit the building, you must show proper ID to enter the building.  Staff and students CANNOT open the door for you. You must be buzzed in by someone in the office after you show your ID.  Once you are buzzed in, go directly to office and sign in and get a visitor badge. Again, this is to ensure the safety of all the students.

Recess - It looks like we will have indoor recess for the next several weeks, but just in case the temperature is 25 degrees or above, please make sure your child wears a coat, hat and gloves. We have activities and games for indoor recess, so we ask that your child not bring in toys from home unless the teacher has given specific permission.  We can't be responsible for lost or stolen property.

Thank you so much for your understanding and cooperation!

Here are the Gold Slip Winners from December 19th:  Sir'myah Slate-Carroll, Abby Biddle, Rebecca Snyder, Sarah Fosnaugh, McDaniel Jean, Colten Watkins, Kalista Milne, Daniel Tincher, Ethan Middleton, Luke Robertson, Annaliese Walker, Aurbri Smith, Shepard Bray, Josie Whitesel, Trinity Gonzalez, Jacob Skrastins, Mayah Berry, Malik Maxwell, and Thomas Andrews.
