Principal's Message
We have a lot to be thankful for here at Groveport Elementary.

I want to personally thank the PTO for organizing our 1st Chili Cookoff - it was a big hit! Thanks to all the families who were able to enter their chili and attend that evening.  I also want to thank the teachers, parents, and students for bringing in over 1600 food items for the Greater Groveport Food Pantry.  I wish all of our families a Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Students Love Music Class!

1st grade is working on high                        Kids really enjoy the song "Count on Me."
and low pitches called Sol and
Mi.  Our Cuckoo bird sings high
and low in our song.
Artist of the Week

Isabela Zamarripa

For our first Mexican project, our 2nd graders replicate Amate paper paintings.  The tree of life is a universal symbol that has been depicted in just about every culture for centuries. The roots connect us to the earth, and the branches connect us to the heavens. The colorful birds, are brightly colored, whimsical subjects we see in traditional and contemporary Mexican folk art. The students draw their own whimsical trees and birds, coloring them with oil pastels to get the famously bright colors of Mexican folk art.  Isabela Zamarripa was selected by Mrs. Sperk for her fantastic project. Isabela is a 2nd grade student in Mrs. Stoever's class. This is her second year at Groveport Elementary.  She has three older sisters.  Isabela collects stickers and in her free time she enjoys drawing self-portraits and sunsets. Congratulations Isabela for being our Artist of the Week!

Live Skype Class Discussion

Students in Mrs. McGonigal's and Mrs. Mosure's 4th grade class participated in the Global Read Aloud The Fourteenth Goldfish. Students kept a journal about the book and last week they participated in a class discussion with students from St. Paul's School in Baltimore, Maryland through a live Skype Chat.

Thank you Real Eyes!

Real Eyes is a program that is funded by a grant awarded by Ohio Department of Health, Bureau of Child and Family Heath Services, Save Our Sight Program.  Our 3rd graders were really engaged in the lesson, especially the part on optical illusions.  Thanks for coming to our classes and providing our students with this information.
