A Message of Thanks
November is a time to reflect upon all that we are thankful for in our lives. Here at Groveport Madison Schools, we have much to appreciate.
First, we thank our employees who work tirelessly to meet the needs of students, their parents, and our community. Our teachers, support staff and administration all play an important role in educating the children who attend our schools. By working together, we provide a strong support base for learning.

The Caring Teacher
Middle School South teacher Tim Jones believes the secret to reaching a difficult child is one thing-CARE. In his new book, "The Caring Teacher: Using Compassion to Connect With Kids," Jones outlines ten qualities of a caring teacher and discusses 26 relevant and critical topics that teachers can face in their classrooms each day. The book also provides 30 handouts to help struggling teachers connect with even their most difficult students.
Jones is a veteran teacher who has worked over 30 years in the profession with students who have special needs. For the past 13 years, Jones has worked at Groveport Madison helping students with severe emotional problems overcome challenges. "It's about respect, care, and compassion," said Jones. "Until a teacher gains the respect of his or her students, it isn't going to work. You can get by, but it will never be rewarding."
