Superintendent's Challenge to Benefit Food Pantry

Groveport Madison is committed to helping families this holiday season by supporting the Greater Groveport Food Pantry.

Help support the cause by joining in the Superintendent's Challenge to collect non-perishable food items and canned goods. All families are encouraged to participate in this challenge by sending items into school with your children starting on Monday, November 3 through Friday, November 14

.

The classroom that collects the most canned goods and food items will earn the honor of having Superintendent Bruce Hoover teach their classes for day.

The winning classroom will also have their picture featured in the community newsletter and posted on our Facebook site. Classroom instruction with Superintendent Hoover will take place before the winter break.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Focus on Learning

Students in Mrs. Mosure's 4th grade class last week were able to demonstrate the ability to solve word problems adding and subtracting with like denominators.  They are moving on to changing mixed numbers to improper fractions and improper fractions to mixed numbers.

ARTIST OF THE WEEK

Ella Slosar

In this project, our 1st graders were introduced to the artist Laurel Birch.  Laurel Birch is well-known for her colorful abstract cat paintings.  We began this lesson by looking at several examples and discussing the meaning of abstract art.  We drew the cat together and then filled it in with different lines and patterns.  Ella Slosar was selected by Mrs. Sperk for her beautiful project. Ella is a 1st grade student in Mrs. Anderson's class. She has been attending Groveport Elementary since kindergarten.  She has an older sister, Maddie who is in 3rd grade and she has a younger sister, Quinn and a younger brother, Mitchell.  She enjoys playing outside with her siblings. Congratulations Ella for being our Artist of the Week!
