Principal's Message
Another Great Week at Groveport Elementary!
Thank you to the parents, staff, and students for making the start of the year go so smoothly.  We are all settling in for a great year!  Please continue to ask your child about what they are learning in school, check their take home folders nightly, and set aside time for homework.  With all of us working together I know will have a successful year!

April Bray, Principal
Rachel's Challenge Comes to Groveport Elementary!

Rachel's Challenge is the largest school assembly program in America.  It is designed to help school administrators, parents, and students create a safer and more productive places to learn and achieve.  The goal is to motivate students and administrators to embrace new values of kindness and compassion so that no one is left behind because of fear and violence in their school.   On September 9th students and staff at Groveport Elementary participated in the assemblies and learned about the 5 Challenges.

1. Use Kind Words and Do Kind Things

2. Accept and Include Others

3. CHOOSE POSITIVE Influences

4. Set GOALS

5. Keep a JOURNAL
Students Accept the Challenge

The day after the Rachel's Challenge Assembly every student signed a school banner accepting the 5 challenges.  They are going to start a chain reaction of kindness and compassion!

What Parents Need to Know About School Safety

When it comes to school safety, we all want students to be as safe as possible. Having students practice safety drills and procedures enables them to be prepared in any given emergency situation.

Not only do our students practice bus safety and fire drills, but also they will practice several other drill responses. Alice Training was implemented during the 2013-2014 school year. This year the Groveport Police Department will continue that training by coming to our building to practice the Intruder / Lock Down Drill. Our first training/practice will be September 12th.  All new staff and Kindergarten students will be trained and the rest of the building will practice the drill.
Gold Slips
Gold Slips are given to students by staff members for many reasons. Students were given Gold Slips in August for following cafeteria and playground rules.  September Gold Slips will be given for showing effort and working hard. Students come to the office and put their gold slip in our Treasure Box. Every Friday, the Principal picks 15 -20 Gold Slips from the Treasure Box and calls those students to the office for a prize. Here are the Gold Slip Winners for the past 2 weeks - Jacob McKinley, Caden Vargo, Coen Dean, Stevan Stewart, Amelia Robinson, Payne Williams, Rashaad Marshall, Ian Wilson, Kayden Blevins, Daniel Nuakey, Maddie Slosar, Jacob Dickerson, Ian Wilson, Malik Maxwell, Jameson Brubaker, Mayah, Berry, Sarah Fosnaugh, Cale Hilligas, Elayna Milner, Deshawn Gray, Darian Hanna, Nick Gomez, Amelia Robinson, Savannah Nanthavong, Paige Sims, and Sammie Whitesel.  Congratulations Gold Slip Winners - Keep it up!
