FIELD NOTES
OCTOBER / NOVEMBER 2015

Friends,

Field Notes is back and better than ever with updates on our Cohort 4 alumni, new Cohort 5 embers, and much more. We encourage you to explore the links and, if you see something you enjoy, share with your networks! Every month our readership grows and it is thanks to the involvement of folks like you. We're excited that our message is going out to more and more engaged community members.

Before we get started, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who passed along feedback about our new appearance. We're thrilled that people seem to be happy with the changes we've made, and are looking forward to continuing to improve. If you have any thoughts you'd like to share, we'd love to hear them! Now, without any further ado, please enjoy the Late October/Early November installment of Field Notes.
Join us in saying farewell to Cohort 4 and welcome to Cohort 5

On Tuesday, October 13th, we hosted our joint Cohort 4 Graduation and Cohort 5 Induction Ceremony at The View. This was our most exciting ceremony yet, with friends, family, partners, and champions all present to celebrate. Attendees were treated to stories from the field, a musical performance by two of our alumni, a speech by Mayor Nutter, and a moving dedication to our late alumnus, Darius Epps. Thank you to everyone who joined us! If you couldn't make it this time, we hope to see you all at the end of Cohort 5. Check out these photos from the event.
Check out the changes on our website!

With each new cohort comes a new look for the PowerCorpsPHL website, PowerCorpsPHL.org! We are excited to share the stories of our new Cohort V crew members, as well as new opportunities to get involved! We hope you'll take a minute to peruse our new and impoved site, and even share the new pages with your networks! We'd love to hear any feedback you have as well.
PowerCorpsPHL members are a hit at the Forbes-sponsored summit here in Philly

Members of PowerCorpsPHL were invited to participate in an impact mentoring session as part of the Forbes 30 Under 30 Summit, hosted for the second year in a row here in Philadelphia. Our members engaged some of the most promising minds from Philadelphia's public and private sectors, and walked away with some valuable lessons about planning for success. For photos from the day, go to the Philadelphia Youth Commission's Facebook page!
PowerCorpsPHL steps up its game at AmeriDay 2015/AmeriCorps Launch

On Friday, October 16th, the entire AmeriCorps community in Philadelphia gathered at City Hall for the official swearing in and launch ceremony for the 2015-2016 year of service. Following the ceremony, members deployed to different areas of the city for a day of service projects. Members of PowerCorpsPHL spent the day in Cobb's Creek, where our Assistant Crew Leaders supervised the new AmeriCorps members as Volunteer Leaders in Cobbs Creek! National Service Task Force VISTA Leader Jacob Feinberg published an excellent write-up on the SERVE Philly blog, which you can read here.
