Welcome Back! Now let's get busy! There is much to complete and participate in during these last two months of the semester.

The most critical items to address:
  • The new Engler Officer Election process.  If you haven't done so, get your nominations in for the slating committee by April 2nd
          =  And if you are interested in an executive committee position, get your application in by April 9th at midnight to mbassford7@unl.edu!   Application 
  • State FBLA is on April 4th in Omaha and State FFA is April 9-11th at the Cornhusker Marriott here in Lincoln.  Volunteers are still needed!!       2-3 people needed/2 hr time block April 10 8am-4pm. 2-3 people needed/2 hr time block April 11 8am-12pm. Let Tom or Michelle know if you can help.     
  • Bus Tour Registration!!  The Engler trip will be Mon. May 12-Thurs. May 15. The cost is $50. To register, bring payment to Michelle and provide your NUID and emergency contact info. The proposed itinerary is attached to give you an idea of the activities this year.  
  • Engler Quick Pitch April 17th - Quick Pitch Competition is fast approaching!  Get all the details on 2014 rules and procedures at engler.unl.edu. Click on the heading on home page, or under the navigation button titled "Student Opportunities" along the top. Abstracts due April 7th. 

 As you can see, the end of the semester is FULL!  Make sure to keep an eye on deadlines for scholarships, competitions, classwork and events.  If you have questions, contact Michelle or Tom.

      SCHOLARSHIP

The Meat Industry Suppliers Alliance (MISA) is a division of the Food Processing Suppliers Association, a trade association to suppliers of the food industry. Each year the MISA Foundation awards scholarships to students who are studying meat sciences. This year MISA will be awarding (7) $5,000 scholarships to deserving students. Eligible students are juniors and seniors, and any level of graduate school. The following link takes applicants directly to the scholarship application form:  APPLICATION

Mentors Needed for LC
  
Looking for the best and the brightest current students to be Upperclass Mentors for Learning Communities during the 2014-2015 academic year.  
Applications are now available and are due April 2, 2014.

See the link for more details and compensation info. 

The best mentor candidates will possess the following qualities:

  • Excitement for helping others, specifically first-year students
  • High standards for their own personal academic achievement
  • Ability to be a team player and be self-motivated when working independently
  • Knowledge of the LC's subject area
  • Willingness to live on the assigned residence hall floor with the LC students 
Past experience in a Learning Community is preferred but not required.
