Dear ASU Prep Families and Friends: Over the past several months you have seen our requests for tax credit contributions to ASU Preparatory Academy. You might have even received a flyer during pick-up? We request this support because tax credit contributions are a significant means by which we are able to financially support our athletic and after school programs. Your tax credit contributions (in any dollar amount) also make a strong statement about family and community support of our school. If every family gave just $5, $10 or $25, it would be a tangible demonstration of what we hear from so many of you every day: that you love our schools and the education your child receives here. There are many programs at ASU Prep that use your tax credit donations. These include our growing Color Guard, Elementary and STEM Academy Lego League programs, and the FIRST Robotics programs, Athletics, and even STEM extracurricular programs. The awesome news about Arizona tax credit contributions is that you essentially get whatever amount of contribution you make to your school back in the form of a dollar-for-dollar tax credit when you file your 2013 Arizona income taxes (up to $200 for individual filers or $400 for married couples filing jointly). For example if you donate $25 by December 31, 2014, your state tax credit will be $25. When you file your state taxes next year, your state tax bill will be $25 less, or if you are receiving a refund your refund will be $25 more. You do not need to have a child enrolled at ASU Preparatory Academy to be eligible for the state tax credit. Friends, relatives, neighbors, or co-workers can support ASU Preparatory Academy and get a credit for their taxes as well. Tax credit contributions can be made online at the ASU Prep website by clicking HERE or you can make a contribution at any of the ASU Prep front offices. At ASU Preparatory Academy, we want 100 percent of our students to succeed in college, compete globally, and contribute to their communities. Let's aim high and let's set the goal of 100 percent of our ASU Prep families and staff making a tax credit contribution of at least $5 to ASU Prep by December 31, 2014. It will take every one of us doing our part to achieve that goal, but imagine the incredible statement it would make to our students and the community if we can make it happen. To learn more about the tax credit program, or to make an online contribution, please visit the ASU Prep website by clicking HERE. Sincerely, Your ASU Preparatory Academy Polytechnic Leadership Team Important Notice to ASU Prep Parents: Emergency Operations Exercise @ Poly Just as we practice fire drills and lockdown drills on the ASU Prep Academy schools, the ASU will be practicing a mock emergency drill with numerous teams of emergency responders on the ASU Poly Campus. The drill will take place December 5, 2014. The teams will be on campus from approximately 7:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. This is not expected to interfere with drop-off or pick-up traffic or the school day; however, there will be fire trucks, police cars, hazardous material response trucks, etc. on the campus. If you have subscribed to our text messaging system, we will use this to remind you of this drill and to "test" our own system. Please watch for messages the day before and the morning of the event. If you have any questions, please contact Laura Gill our ASU PD Police liaison or your school directors. Update: PTSO Fundraiser -FUN RUN Thank you to our amazing PTSO for hosting Fun Run on Friday, 11/21. Thank you to all the parent volunteers, teachers and staff that helped make this event a complete success. In the future, the PTSO will update you regarding how much money was raised and where it will be going within our school system. Please enjoy all the pictures below. Thank you for your support! ASU Prep Academy - Enrollment Process for 2015-16
ASU Prep will once again hold two lotteries for potential students who would like to attend ASU Prep for the 2015-2016 school year. The lottery for Kindergarten and 9th grade will be held on Tuesday, December 9th and the lottery for 1st through 8th grade and 10th through 12th grade will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2015. In order to be included in the lottery, a Lottery Interest Form must be completed for the student and submitted to the ASU Prep office by 12:00pm on the Friday proceeding the lottery date. The Lottery Interest Form can be obtained in the ASU Prep front office or by visiting our ASU Prep. website. Families of students who completed a lottery interest form for the current school year but who did not get enrolled must complete the new 2015-2016 lottery interest form in order to be included in the lottery for next school year.
Families of current ASU Prep students do not have to go through the lottery process and do not have to complete a lottery interest form. However, all families of current students who plan on attending ASU Prep for the 2015-2016 school year must complete an Intent to Re-Enroll form and submit it to the ASU Prep office no later than 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26th. Current students who do not have an Intent to Re-Enroll form submitted for them by the deadline will lose their spot at ASU Prep for next school year and that spot will be given to a new student through the lottery process. Please click on this link to complete the re-enrollment form.

Thank to the Specials teachers for being an important part of our celebration of learning. Third graders demonstrated their knowledge of the geology by creating a replica of the earth from the inside out and fourth grade created globes and state floats. Students also created flashlights and their own energy projects to demonstrate their knowledge of electricity. In addition, STEM was instrumental in bring electricity to life by having students create BristleBots to race on a track. Technology was integrated in Globster presentations, slideshows of students work was in classrooms, and student work showed incredible growth and talent by everyone. Hats off to all of our students!!!!

ASU Prep Poly Elementary Student: Daunte Debbs, Honored by Arizona Cardinals: In his mother's words: "Daunte was chosen as the Mayo Clinic and AZ Cardinals Youth Athlete of the Game. I entered him in to the contest because Daunte works very hard to be a great student, athlete and all around kid. He has always received straight A's from Kindergarten through 3rd grade and now that he attends ASU Prep, he continues with E's and M's. Daunte goes to school every day, works hard, comes home and does his homework, then goes straight to getting all his chores done and then puts his football gear on and heads out to practice 2 nights a week until 8-8:30pm. I'm impressed with how he can juggle everything he needs to do and still be successful at it all at age 9. We're very proud of him and because of this we entered him in to the contest and he won for Sunday's home game." Congratulations Daute! Your Grandmother is right, you are an outstanding young man. Thank you for demonstrating the ASU Prep Way in all you do!

"Because Mr. Nelson is awesome and he will allow me to come to him for help when needed and he has awesome hair and always has amazing things to make me laugh like his glasses." (8th grader) "He's really supportive/ yet stern, but makes lessons funny." (7th grader) "He helps me a lot and he is so funny and that is why he should be chosen." (unknown) Please join us in celebrating Mr. Nelson for the month of November. We are "thankful" to have him on our STEM Academy staff.
