Reminder: ASU Preparatory Academy Families Drive Safely Through Campus
Our ASU Preparatory Academy families know the times of the day from 7:30-8:15 a.m. and 3:10-3:25 p.m. are busy times of day for all of us. These are the times for students arriving to school and leaving school each day. This means we have over 800 children entering and exiting our school doors and walking on university streets and sidewalks, and eagerly getting to school and awaiting your arrival. Please remember in addition to our 800+ children, these are the same streets where hundreds of other community and university residents live, work, drive, cycle, walk, and play.
When dropping off and picking up your children, we ask for your cooperation to ensure we keep our streets safe for our families and all members of the community.
You can do your part by:
1) Eliminating all driving distractions while dropping off and picking up your children− Stay off cell phones and avoid multitasking while driving. This is essential to everyone's safety.
2) Scanning the streets for any children and other pedestrians who might be present in unexpected places.
3) Obeying all traffic laws, traffic signs, staff members, and campus police directing traffic.
4) Keeping clear of resident driveways and avoiding stops in prohibited areas.
5) Be polite to your fellow drivers and allowing other drivers into line if coming from another direction.
The next time you have the urge to rush around campus or want to multitask while driving, remember− it could be your own child who is unexpectedly crossing the street. Let's keep our streets safe for all Sun Devil families. Thank you.
ITeach (Student Teachers) - An Important Partnership between ASU and our Schools
Our partnership with ASU and the Teachers College is an important one because we are helping prepare the next generation of teachers for our state. The iTeach program is different than most student teacher programs in the United States because it requires the education major to double the amount of time in the classroom. This gives the student teacher, teaching candidates, preparation time and makes the student teaching experience more authentic. All of the teaching candidates who are paired with our teachers spend the entire academic school year developing teaching skills and strategies as they are mentored by our amazing teachers.
This year we have 6 iTeach candidates of which are located at both the Elementary School and the STEM Academy. Thanks in advance for making these important members of our staff feel welcome at ASU Prep Polytechnic Schools.
