Parenting Now! Has New Executive Director

 

Lynne Swartz is the new executive director at non-profit Parenting Now!, formerly Birth To Three, in Eugene.

 

Lynne brings more than 15 years of private and non-profit leadership to Parenting Now! She has a Master of Public Health from Oregon State University and a BA in Health Education from University of Oregon.

 

Lynne has been a research scientist at ORCAS (Oregon Center for Applied Science) and executive director of the Educational Policy Improvement Center.

 

In addition to her professional skills, Lynne is an alumnae of then-Birth To Three's parenting education groups in 1983 and 1986.

 

For nearly 20 years, she has also been a health education specialist for the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. Her past experience includes being a project coordinator, university instructor and research assistant. She has even been co-owner of a small chain of family grocery stores.

 

Lynne began work on Sept. 2. Parenting Now! is hosting a reception on Friday, Oct. 11 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Please plan to attend! The reception will be held at Parenting Now!, located at 86 Centennial Loop in Eugene. Please RSVP by Wednesday, Oct. 9 to info@parentingnow.org or 541-434-4356.

 

Parenting Now!'s mission is that all children will be raised by nurturing, skilled parents. Since 1978, Parenting Now! has provided parenting education in the Lane County, Oregon area. The Summer Adventure is designed to engage elementary age children in fun, educational, well-supervised activities that they might not otherwise experience due to lack of affordable care options suitable for this age range, summer learning loss, lack of family resources to pay for "summer fun activities. DOUGLAS COUNTY
Cobb Children's Learning Center
Child Care Furnishings
CCLC provides childcare for low-income families and/or women going through the Crossroad's residential drug/alcohol treatment. CCLC is the only childcare provider in Douglas County offering care to families where parents are in the six-month long residential treatment program. Need funds for toddler tables, shelving, easels and mirrors. Goal: $5,200  Read More
OCTOBER FUNDRAISING EVENTS

 October 11- Upstart Crow Studios Eugene - A Mask-erade, which is a furlough day, fun day of creating masks, costumes, acting and dancing! 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. event complete with casino and floor show on October 11th. Dress the part of the Monte Carlo set or the Caribbean pirates, enjoy casino games, good food and a floor show to benefit the youth theatre program at Upstart Crow Studios.  www.upstartcrowstudios.org 

 

October 12 - Join Farm to School Program (managed by Willamette Farm & Food Coalition) - Lane County - in connection with the School Garden Project of Lane County for their Benefit Harvest Dinner at King Estate. 5:00 p.m. with tours, food, wine, acoustic guitar, and more. October 15th - CASA-Voices for Children, Corvallis - Papa's Pizza - bring in the flyer and CASA receives 50% of purchase. Flyers on website at: www.casa-vfc.org
