Simply Act
I thought it might be interesting to examine and share with you the activity on the Impact Grantmaking website since its launch on October 17, 2012. There have been 2,666 visits to the website, 8,435 page-views, and a continuous stream of 200 new visitors every month.
Coming from a generation where a typewriter that had memory capabilities was the greatest invention since corrective lift-off tape, I'm continually impressed by how technology has exponentially and completely changed the world. There are so many new internet sites and software programs available that manage, track, and connect information, and it's been fascinating to watch, but the data is not necessarily easy to assimilate - but maybe we don't need to spend hours on it.
With the Impact Grantmaking website, it's easy to get caught up in the technology of how it works and overlook the point:
Impact Grantmaking is about making the needs known in any given community and connecting potential donors with nonprofits. It's about service, and it's about touching the lives of human beings in need.
The venue I chose provides an opportunity for anyone to see the needs and it's not sophisticated, it's simply accessible information. But all the information in the world won't make a difference without action. We have the ability and the choice to support each other in many ways through big gifts or small gifts, in person or in-kind. So let's come together, spread the word of need, forward the news, make a donation, volunteer. The time has come to simply act.
