Help Wanted!
If you have ever explored "crowd funding," such as Kickstarter, you know that the person who posts the project facilitates the marketing toward reaching their financial goal. You may also know that in order to receive any funding, the individual must first reach the goal, and then the crowd funding company keeps a percentage of what is raised as a fee for their service.
Impact Grantmaking has a different approach. From the inception of Impact Grantmaking, I envisioned developing a partnership with each nonprofit in Oregon to enhance their outreach and development.
I keep the posting fee as minimal as possible, and we work together as partners to generate funding for their proposals. No matter how much funding is raised, 100% of all donations go directly to the organization without any fees taken out.
If you would like to support this partnership model, here's something you can do that can make a big difference: reach out to your network of friends and colleagues to create awareness of your favorite charity's project posted on the website. This personal engagement is sure to increase the likelihood of support from new and current donors.
It's easy. Just take these five simple steps:
- Go to the Impact Grantmaking website, and click the Giving Opportunities link at the top of the page.
- Locate your favorite proposal and click the "Read more" link; a short summary of the proposal will open.
- Copy the URL (web address) into an email message to your database of friends and colleagues, as well as on your Facebook page or other social media platforms.
- In the body of your email/post, explain what the link is and why it is personally important to you.
- Ask everyone to spread the word by forwarding the link to their friends and colleagues and by sharing it on their Facebook page. Mention that by helping to market this proposal they are making a difference in the community.
Here's what a link looks like:

A community is a partnership--so on behalf of all nonprofits, thank you for your help!
Best wishes,
Jennifer

The Trauma Healing Project
The Trauma Healing Project (THP) promotes individual and community health through education, research and direct support for healing. The THP was founded almost ten years ago by a diverse coalition of community members, survivors, and professionals concerned about the negative impact of unresolved violence and trauma on individuals and on our communities.
Since launching our new and expanded Healing Arts Program in October 2012, we have welcomed over 160 people to yoga and Nia classes, a drop-in acupuncture clinic, a youth support group, digital storytelling workshops, and individual bodywork sessions. We currently have 25 volunteers, including licensed practitioners, who provide instruction, facilitation and individual bodywork sessions to over 40 community members per week. We are receiving more than 20 calls per month and at present, have over 15 people on our waiting list for individual bodywork. Word is getting out and the number of people seeking support and services is increasing!
As a community-based organization, we are unique in providing a safe space for survivors of trauma to reconnect their bodies, minds, and spirits, without being given a label or diagnosis, and no matter their ability to pay. In connection with the Healing Arts Program, the THP is working to evaluate the effectiveness of our work on short and long term health and wellness, not only for individual participants, but for the larger community as well.
As one participant said so well, "It is beautiful to witness people believing in themselves". We believe in people and in their capacity to heal, and we're learning more about how to support them in the process every day. With your help this vibrant and vital community resource can thrive, for everyone's benefit.
