Over 600 volunteers will gather on this day to read to every pre-k through 6th grade in Bridgeport and you could be one of them!

It's also a great time to start mentoring or tutoring someone in need. Below are some great opportunities to meet once a week with a youth, mentor a high-school student via email or tutor a woman in basic life skills and literacy!

Tutoring!

Tutoring is a great way to ensure academic and future success of those in need! No special skills or prior knowledge required! 

Tutoring Kids
  • Project Learn is a weekly after-school one-on-one tutoring program for kids. (A great opportunity for teens looking to volunteer!);
  • Schools Volunteer Association matches tutors with kids in grades K-8 who meet weekly in the school;  
Tutoring Women
  • Mercy Learning Center offers basic literacy and life skills tutoring for low-income women. Tutoring in math, reading and ESL are need. Educate a woman...Educate a family
  • Caroline House enables women to reach their potential by tutoring in ESL and basic life skills.
