Rotary Literacy Month
Greetings!
Pres Ron Lacey
Pres Ron Lacey

Great News!   Our Membership drive is starting to roll.  Two great gentlemen have been submitted.  Today I am emailing another  application for your consideration. It is expected his approval is imminent.  Further, we now have 6 referrals from you our members and 1 additional recommendation.  Your help is sincerely appreciated. Call me with your suggestion/recommendation for any new potential members.

Our own President Elect Larry Tannas is being introduced by Dr. Sheila this week.  His  topic, what's  new at this year's electronics  show in Las Vegas.

We have about a dozen people signed up for the District Assembly being held at Chapman University this Saturday morning.  Rolls, pastries and coffee available at 7:00 am and the event starts at 8:00 am.   Once more, let me strongly encourage you to be there.  It is free, and you will both enjoy and benefit from being at this event.   It is an all district event, so be sure to come.

Finally, we have the assistance of a National Marketing company to work with us on our club survey. This way you will have the assurance of anonymity as you answer the survey questions. I am requesting that each of you donate a bit of time and thought to answer the survey and return to quickly.  They then will compile your answers and send the results to your board of directors to review.  Keep your eyes open for it and respond.  Thanks!

YOUR ROLE IN ROTARY
Thanks for your continued support of the Rotary Foundation. Over half of the Orange
Rotary Club members have already completed their commitment for the 2012-2013 year.
By the end of March we hope to reach our goal of 100% support of the Every Rotarian Every Year program. As Governor Jim Lorman has said:
"To support our Foundation there is no donation of time and resources too small. Each contributes to result in an ocean of help for humanity."
You can complete your donation by check payable to The Rotary Foundation or by credit card.

The Rotary Foundation is geared up to implement Rotary's New Vision plan beginning
in July 2013, with 6 defined areas of focus:

1. Peace and conflict prevention/resolution
2. Disease prevention and treatment
3. Water and sanitation
4. Maternal and child health
5. Basic education and literacy
6. Economic and community development
Each week we'll take a look at one of these areas of Focus.

Economic and community development
The Foundation enables Rotarians to invest in people by creating sustainable,
measurable, and long -term economic improvements in their communities and
livelihoods by:
1. Building the capacity of entrepreneurs, community leaders, local
organizations, and community networks to support economic
development in impoverished communities
2. Developing opportunities for productive work
3. Reducing poverty in underserved communities
Supporting studies for career-minded professionals related to economic and
community development
