Greetings!

Pres Ron Lacey
|
We have had 4 or 5 members at our meeting last week that told our secretary they were not eating at the meeting. The question was asked, since they were not eating and had to leave early, could they just get a $5.00 scooters pass.
Several months ago your board of directors passed the ruling that the meeting fee was $20.00 when you buy a book of 10 tickets, and $21.00 if tickets were purchased separately each week. For that meeting fee you were also entitled to enjoy the luncheon, beverages and deserts if you desired. This then, was explained and discussed to the entire club at our weekly luncheon, and questions were answered.
You see, the rent for the use of the facility is included in that meeting fee, as well as the cost of the food. In addition, as of this moment in time, in order to achieve that required dollar amount, we have been contracted to guarantee to pay for a minimum of 65 people. It is obvious that we have not met that number this last while. That is one of the reasons that we must insist on your having a ticket, or that we bill you for those times you come without your ticket.
Let me assure you that your board has been and is looking into various possible solutions, and will continue to actively do so. Thank you for your understanding.
President Elect Larry Tannas has written to you all that he earnestly urges your attendance to the 2013-2014 District Assembly - March 09, 2013.
I strongly join with him and urge your attendance. You will learn ways to enrich your Rotary membership, enhance your effectiveness and strengthen your leadership skills. See you there!
Location: Chapman University, 8:00 to Noon. THIS IS A FREE EVENT FOR ALL ROTARIANS,
just click here to register. Complimentary coffee and pastries await you!!.

YOUR ROLE IN ROTARY Thanks for your continued support of the Rotary Foundation. Over half of the Orange Rotary Club members have already completed their commitment for the 2012-2013 year. By the end of March we hope to reach our goal of 100% support of the Every Rotarian Every Year program. As Governor Jim Lorman has said: "To support our Foundation there is no donation of time and resources too small. Each contributes to result in an ocean of help for humanity." You can complete your donation by check payable to The Rotary Foundation or by credit card.
The Rotary Foundation is geared up to implement Rotary's New Vision plan beginning in July 2013, with 6 defined areas of focus:
1. Peace and conflict prevention/resolution 2. Disease prevention and treatment 3. Water and sanitation 4. Maternal and child health 5. Basic education and literacy 6. Economic and community development Each week we'll take a look at one of these areas of Focus.
Basic education and literacy
The Foundation enables Rotarians to ensure that all people have sustainable access to basic education and literacy by:
1. Involving the community to support programs that strengthen the
capacity of communities to provide basic education and literacy to all
2. Increasing adult literacy in communities
3. Working to reduce gender disparity in education
4. Supporting studies for career-minded professionals related to basic
education and literacy
