Rotary Awareness  Month
Greetings!
Pres Ron Lacey
Pres Ron Lacey

The past three weeks have been great Rotary meetings. We have had terrific programs, Rotary fun and even time for interesting " teachers mini-grants" presentations.  I did receive a few calls saying that since I had talked about having you all switch to other tables,  the callers said they would not be attending that week.   Personally I am sorry that some would prefer to be absent rather than switch places once in a while.

Here is the scoop - your club needs you and your attendance, and you need the club.  So, respecting your feeling on this matter I agree to drop the idea of switching seats for now. Thank you for making me aware of your views.

Now, attention, attention!  Clang, clang, clang, as I ring the bell for your attention. You will be so glad you came this week.   You will be truly entertained and so happy you are there. Past Pres. and Program Committee Chairman Dave Weilmuenster is bringing us one of the worlds best story tellers.   Entertainer ? YES, Story Teller? YES  Comedian?  YES.  Come prepared for a great time, and I honestly mean it when I suggest you should bring a friend or guest  for this program! Your guests will be pleased you invited them, and you will be proud you did.  Ron

Rotary District 5320 Global Grant Scholarships, 2013-14

The Global Grant Scholarship, formally known as the Ambassadorial Scholarship is the crown jewel of the Foundation of Rotary International. In the world of academia it is looked upon as a most generous and prestigious scholarship program

If we are to follow in the history of such recipients as Paul Volker, former chair of the Federal Reserve, Bill Moyers TV Journalist and more recently Lt. Anthony Lupo, graduate of the U. S. Military Academy and now serving in Pakistan as an intelligence officer, we need your help now.

Despite the fact that we sent you a letter back in November outlining the program and your challenge we have as yet heard nothing from you ... We have no applicants!

Your sources for candidates are your members (no relatives are allowed), their friends and associates who know of university graduating seniors and members of academia of your membership o acquaintance.

We ask that you Presidents and leaders put you prestige on the line with your club and immediately make this a major project of your club.

Please send applications, questions or requests for assistance to

H.W. "Herb" Trumpoldt, Scholarship Committee Chairman @ 4711LibraPlace, Yorba Linda, CA 92886, oryorbaherb@earthlink.net.

In the interests of Rotary's goal of Building World Peace and Understanding through education, we ask your help.

Yours in Rotary Service,

Jim Lorman

YOUR ROLE IN ROTARY
Thanks for your continued support of the Rotary Foundation. Over half of the Orange
Rotary Club members have already completed their commitment for the 2012-2013 year.
By the end of March we hope to reach our goal of 100% support of the Every Rotarian Every Year program. As Governor Jim Lorman has said:
"To support our Foundation there is no donation of time and resources too small. Each contributes to result in an ocean of help for humanity."
You can complete your donation by check payable to The Rotary Foundation or by credit card.

The Rotary Foundation is geared up to implement Rotary's New Vision plan beginning
in July 2013, with 6 defined areas of focus:

1. Peace and conflict prevention/resolution
2. Disease prevention and treatment
3. Water and sanitation
4. Maternal and child health
5. Basic education and literacy
6. Economic and community development
Each week we'll take a look at one of these areas of Focus.

Disease prevention and treatment
The Foundation enables Rotarians to prevent disease and promote health by:
1. Improving the capacity of local health care professionals
2. Promoting disease prevention programs, with the goal of limiting the
spread of communicable diseases and reducing the incidences of and
complications from non-communicable diseases
3. Enhancing the health infrastructure of local communities
4. Educating and mobilizing communities to help prevent the spread of
major diseases
5. Preventing physical disability resulting from disease or injury
6. Supporting studies for career-minded professionals related to disease
prevention and treatment
