Some of you have been asking...
about a short course on learning how to use your new IPad, IPhone, Tablet  with Social Media like Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, and You Tube.  The goal would be to create a well connected Orange Rotary Club using today's technology (smartphones, tablets etc.) teaching our  membership how to use Social Media to share ideas, photos, and exchange personal thoughts with each other.   If you feel an interest on learning more on how to make your  "newly acquired gadget" perform, please see me (Glenn Chitjian)  for dates and times.

To view the many photos of our activities of the Orange Rotary Club just head over to our  Facebook page.  The link is listed under "quick links" on right side of column.  Here you find lot pictures of our Club members and what there talking about. If you have photos you would like to post to our Facebook page, but don't know how to do it, see at our weekly meeting and will get those photos available for all our member to see!

Dear Rotarians,

What a great day Rotary is going to be this coming Thursday.   Your program committee has planned a wonderful Christmas Program for you, your family and your guests.   Do you have your red lunch ticket? If not, please come a bit early to get yours because I expect the line could be long.

Remember, as you go through the food line you will drop ½ of the ticket into the collection bucket, and keep the other half. You will need it to check your ticket number to see if you won one of the three prizes we have for the winning numbers.

This is the last meeting of 2012, so lets make it a great success attendance wise, so we can personally wish each other a very Merry Christmas.

Finally, remember, we will be dark, NO meetings on either December 27th as well as January 3rd.  We will resume meetings on January 10th 2013.

Merry Christmas   and Happy New Year

to all!

Michael Short - Dir of Choral Activities OHS

The Orange High School Vocal Music Department is a comprehensive leveled choral program, designed to maximize the potential in each student.  Our goal is to help our students not only understand and become proficient in music, but also to understand their role in our community. We show them how they can affect, in a positive way, their city, county, state and country with music and through community service.

As Director of Choral Activities at Orange High School (since 1982), Michael has mentored thousands of students through the years, including some who have gone on to distinguished careers on stage and screen - like Peter Lindskoog, a leading opera bass/baritone who performs all over the world.

When he's not teaching at the high school, Michael serves as musical director of the Orange Community Master Chorale and Chamber Chorale and is also the director of mu

sic at First

United Methodist Church of Orange.

Originally from

Oklahoma and moving to Bakersfield in his early teens, Michael says he first became interested in pursuing a career in music after the Chapman College choir visited his high school. In 1979, he earned his bachelor's degree from Chapman, followed by a master's degree in choral conducting from Cal State Fullerton.

A resident of Old Towne, Michael originally intended to become a music minister. It wasn't long before he discovered that music is a ministry in and of itself.
