What's New at Child's Play

The New York City skyline - Las Vegas style
Minions at Licensing Expo

Las Vegas has become our second home. Between the Consumer Electronics Show in January, the ABC Kids Expo in October and, last month, the annual Licensing Expo -- well, it's odd to have the view outside your hotel window (see photo above) resemble the one from your office in New York City.

That said, Licensing show had its usual share of roving characters, big screens, and the occasional splashy car. Disney's 'Frozen' topped the 2015 Licensing Expo Awards list (shocking!), Peanuts characters will star in a new film and the Powerpuff Girls are coming back. In 2016, Warner Bros will launch Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Plus ca change.

A big thank you to all those folks who met with us at the show -- we appreciate your time and are looking forward to reconnecting.

From Teddy Bears to Tech

By Stephanie Azzarone, president, Child's Play Communications

It's no mystery to those of us enmeshed in the mom space: Moms have long been the first adopters when it comes to technology, particularly the kind that helps them manage their families' lives.

But how will they react to the growing array of tech-based toys for their kids? Will they embrace them, too, or fight the transition from "real" play -- teddy bears that simply hug, blocks that simply stack -- to the more virtual kind, or a combination of the two?
