THE LATEST AT CHILD'S PLAY

The last few weeks have been busy ones for Child's Play president Stephanie Azzarone, who attended the annual Women Presidents Organization Conference, in New Orleans. Along with feasting on beignets, chicory coffee and oysters, she listened to inspirational speakers such as Lauren Bush Lauren, founder of FEED Projects. The WPO members then had the unique opportunity to walk a "second line" to the French Quarter, complete with dancers and musicians, and the following day were serenaded by a gospel choir to the tune of When the Saints Go Marching In. Next, the Child's Play team checked out the latest blogger-world news at the Mom 2.0 blogger conference in Atlanta. See more on the event below.

Happy Mother's Day!

What do mom's really want for Mother's Day? According to a survey we conducted, 14.6% of moms prefer handmade gifts, followed very closely by a day off (13.6%) and a spa day (12.9%). Clearly, moms need a break more than breakfast in bed (1.3%).

But the biggest surprise in our survey was finding out that nearly a quarter of all moms receive nothing for Mother's Day.

Yet last week was the first time I had the opportunity to turn out for the Mom 2.0 Summit, which took place in Atlanta. Staff members who had gone in the past highly recommended it, and finally, this  year, I had no scheduling conflicts.

About 600 women - and a few men - were on hand. I was immediately impressed, first, by the level of bloggers in attendance - many of them the real leaders in the world of mom blogging, women I had known and worked with for a very long time.
