CAPTIVE ANIMALS' PROTECTION SOCIETY
Working for a world without cages...

The Captive Animals' Protection Society (CAPS) is a UK-based charity leading the campaign to end the use of animals in entertainment.

Through a combination of undercover investigations, research, campaigns, political lobbying and education, CAPS aims to stop the exploitation of animals in entertainment, particularly in circuses, zoos and the exotic pet trade.

EXAMPLES OF OUR WORK IN 2012:

CIRCUSES:

The Government has announced plans to ban the use of wild animals in circuses following campaigning and legal interventions by CAPS.

We've recently exposed the cruelty of animals in Irish circuses and called on the Arts Council to stop their funding of the shows.

ZOOS:

In the last few days we have released an investigation exposing a major UK safari park for supplying white lion cubs to a notorious circus trainer.

We recently exposed Port Lympne safari park for holding a dance festival, resulting in animals being taunted by festival goers.

Our detailed report on the UK zoo industry, A Licence to Suffer, has resulted in changes to Government zoo licensing guidance to make it easier to close zoos failing required standards.

All all of these investigations cannot be done without your help and through The Big Give Christmas Challenge we hope to raise enough funds in order to employ an investigator in 2013 helping us expose an end more instances of cruelty to captive animals in the UK.
