Empower SVS
Are you adequately protecting your staff in Lone Working Environments?
Lone Working is not simply visiting people in their homes or providing outreach to locations in the community...

Staff working alone in offices, or a reception or even working from home can be vulnerable to threat or harm.

Increasingly, organisations are also taking services to those unable to come to a central location. This enables people normally excluded from accessing support to benefit from it.

Service providers in the Voluntary Sector were quick to realise the value of delivering flexible support which meets the needs of vulnerable and disadvantaged people. The Third Sector are often the preferred provider of individualised service provision responds to the most socially isolated in our community.

However, whilst striving to deliver support that meets all needs, we are expecting staff to take additional risks and leave themselves open to threat. The responsibility for lone workers rests ultimately with the trustees or directors of the organisation under Health and Safety Law.

Managers too have responsibilities under the law to ensure safe practices are adhered to and staff themselves must take appropriate steps to stay safe.

It isnt enough to say 'stay safe'. Even drafting a policy alone will not cover the liability and protect staff.

Empower offers a range of training and support to ensure organisations can operate safely and effectively and within the law.
