seasons-greetings-header3.jpgThe weather outside may be frightful; but our loans are so delightful! So let it snow, let it snow, let it snow; because your credit union is here by phone or internet to help with your holiday purchases. Borrowing from your credit union not only saves you money but also helps your credit union to continue to offer all the great services. Plus, saving and borrowing locally helps our local community.

Large regional banks take local deposits and may lend them in other cities and towns which does not directly affect the community in which we live. Your credit union is a not-for-profit financial institution that is owned by your friends and neighbors.

Borrow up to $5,000 for 12 months for as low as 6.50% APR. Your individual rate and amount borrowed will be based on your FICO score.

A New or Used Auto
Dealers are eager to move a lot of cars before the beginning of the year so now is the time to purchase your next car or truck.

If you are looking for a used  car, Enterprise Car Sales offers the best of their fleet for less than what you would find at a dealer and get an even lower interest rate on your loan.  Enterprise vehicles come with 130 point certification, a 14-day return policy and a one year warranty.  It's a win, win, win  ... quality, price, loan rate!

Just recently purchased a vehicle? We can refinance that loan and in most cases save you money. Call a loan officer today!

This holiday season give your children or grandchildren the gift of membership in Members Credit Union

Study after study finds that children that are taught at an early age to save are more likely to be financially-secure as adults. To start an account is easy and deposits can be made in person, through the mail or automatically transferred from your member account weekly, bi-weekly or monthly.

Since 2008, the Financial Reality Fair Foundation in partnership with Connecticut's Credit Unions has brought free and fun financial literacy to over 13,000 students across Connecticut.

Today's media wants money management to be all about spending, but it's a trap. The trick is balancing. Students receive an individualized budget sheet upon entry to the fair which they use to simulate living on their own. They must create a one month budget for food, housing, transportation and other monthly expenses to live within their chosen career. They learn decision making habits which will carry them and their families to financial stability and success.

This holiday season, we are hosting a month long Financial Reality Fair fundraiser. Go to the teller counter with a $10 donation to the Financial Reality Fair Foundation and receive a great little book with tons of easy to understand financial tips called, "Money Rules: The Simple Path to Lifelong Security" by Jean Chatzky. Make it a great gift to a loved one this holiday season and know that your donation will not only help your son or daughter, niece or nephew, but it will also help the Connecticut community. Your donation will sponsor a student's experience at one of next year's financial reality fairs.

We will be holding a Reality Fair at UConn Branch Stamford on March 26 with 80 Greenwich High Students participating.  MCU is looking for volunteers. Come join us in educating our youth and see "the light bulb go off" for yourself when they realize just how difficult it is to go out into the world on their own. Please let staff know if you are interested in volunteering.
We have created the Sabatino Scholarship Fund
Lynn Sabatino, Vice President of Members Credit Union, tragically lost her husband in a fatal car accident on November 5. Lynn has worked at Members since 1994 and has served as Branch Manager in both the Cos Cob and Stamford office. She and her husband Matt have two beautiful children, Madelyn, 14, and Matthew, 11.

There has been an outpouring of calls and concern from our members and so MCU would like to share the following information. For those who would like to send cards, please send them care of either office, 56 West Broad ST, Stamford, 06902 or 126 East Putnam Ave, Cos Cob, CT, 06807.

MCU has established a scholarship fund for Lynn's children. Anyone that would like to make a contribution can send a check to the Sabatino Scholarship Fund at the Cos Cob office or make a transfer by phone. Thank you so much for your concern.

Have a safe & happy holiday season,

Kathy L. Chartier
President
