Parker School Dramatiques presents Euripides' Medea, an ancient Greek tragedy adapted and directed by Dr. Angela Alforque. Set against the backdrop of a circus carnival, the Chorus narrates the play as Medea and Jason struggle with the gods, their family relationships and society's expectations. Step right up and join us in this drama of betrayal, ambition and revenge. This production is recommended for audiences ages 12 and over. Tickets are available at the door, $10 General Admission, $5 Students. Admissions Events Coming Up! K-12 Admissions Open House is November 1, 9:00-11:00 a.m. The admissions office is looking for student and parent volunteers for this fun event. Parker School will hold its 12th Annual Fairways & Friends Golf Tournament at Hualālai Resort on Saturday, November 8. Proceeds from the event go directly to financial aid at the school. This year, in addition to golf, Hualālai Spa treatments will be offered that day from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Check in for golf begins at 11:00 a.m. and the tournament starts at 12:30 p.m. After the tournament, there will be an awards reception with heavy pupus, cocktails and prizes. The school is grateful to its title sponsor, Redwater Construction, as well as to Hualālai Resort and the Four Seasons Resort Hualālai, for helping make this event possible. The golf fee is $250 and includes the cost of the reception. For non-golfers, the reception fee is $50. Halloween Costume Parade, Friday, October 31, 2:00-2:30 p.m. We invite you to dress up and join us in the parade! The afternoon will start on the lower school lanai with a short performance from our chorus followed by the parade through the middle and upper school campus. The parade will be at the end of our day and all students will be dismissed to their family right after the event. (There will be P.A.U. on Friday, October 31.) Costume Guidelines:  

-Students may bring costumes to change into or they may wear Halloween colors. 

-Costumes are to be non-violent; all accessories such as swords, wands & light sabers are to be kept at home.

 

Scholastic Book Fair, November 4-6, Lower School 'Ohana Room, 7:30-9:00 a.m. & 2:00-4:00 p.m. The Scholastic Book Fair opens Tuesday, November 4 and runs through Thursday, November 6. Stop by to purchase some new literature for the home or some gifts for the holidays! All money raised goes right back into your child's classroom. Everyone is welcome!

Join the Parker School Board of Directors and PTSO on Thursday, November 13 in the Parker School Theatre to discuss the school's 5-year strategic plan and long-term vision. The board presentation begins at 5:30 p.m. followed by the PTSO general meeting at 6:30 p.m. Come out and be part of the conversation! PTSO, in conjunction with school leadership, is looking for mentors to host upper school students as interns in potential post-secondary educational areas of study and/or career paths through internship opportunities. The Building and Grounds Committee of the Parker School Board is looking for a parent volunteer to assist with campus maintenance of the physical plant and grounds. "Trash for Treats!" will run all through October. Drop off your Hi5 recyclables at Atlas, and on Tuesday, October 28, bring your recyclables to the Parker Lower School driveway at drop off between 7:30-8:00 a.m. Designate a specific K-5 grade to get credit. The winning class will get a Halloween ice cream treat party! Mahalo!    

 

The Film Club will meet on Friday, October 24 at 3:15 p.m. (rescheduled from 10/17 due to hurricane) on the upper campus front porch, then afterwards on the 1st & 3rd Friday of each month. We will discuss both new & classic movies, exploring topics such as elements of a good movie, the use of humor, drama & intrigue, and great directors.
