May Day and Luau was a great success!  Thank you to everyone who attended and volunteered their time. We still have some dishes left from the event which can be picked up from Lani at the front desk.

 

DONATE TO THE KĀKO'O FUND TODAY! Help Parker continue to offer our students excellent programs and improved facilities by making a donation to the Kāko'o Fund. Host Families Needed! Parker School is seeking host families for the 2013-14 school year for several outstanding foreign students. Join us for iParent, an informational session about Parker's one-to-one iPad initiative for the 2013-2014 school year, Tuesday, May 14 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. in the Parker School Theatre. Don't miss this opportunity to learn more about the summer iPad requirements in preparation for the new school year for grades 6-12. We will have final exams Tuesday and Wednesday (5/21 & 5/22).

The following schedule will be in effect. As this can be a stressful week for students, please assist them in preparing for finals by: maintaining a discreet, quiet and well lit study space which is free of distractions, encouraging a healthy breakfast each day and at least 8 hours of sleep each night.  Please call if you have any questions about the finals schedule - 885-7933.  Thanks for your continued support.

8:10-9:35  Block 1 Final

9:35-9:50  Break

9:50-11:15  Block 2 Final

11:15-11:55  Lunch

Wednesday, May 22 - Middle school students arrive at 8:00

  • All students must remain in their classroom for the duration of the period.
  • If a student is dismissed early they must leave school immediately.

Study Hall: Study hall students, block 4 and block 8, may be dimissed early with a note from parents.  Block 1 and block 5 study hall students may arrive for block 2 or block 6 final with parental note.

The Middle School Dance will be held on Friday, May 17 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. in the upper hall in the main school building. The theme is a 007 Masquerade Ball! Students should wear formal attire, in dress code. All outside middle school guests must be attending with a Parker student. Free admission. Free food (while it lasts!).

Lower School

 

Field Day is coming up on Friday, May 17 from 12:30-2:30 p.m.  This is a fun-filled afternoon with water balloons and water games! Please make sure your child has sunscreen applied, bathing suit, towel, and spare change of clothes to change into after the event.

 

Last day of school is Wednesday, May 22. Fifth grade graduation is at 9:00 am. It is a full day of school for all K-4 students with dismissal at 2:30 pm. There is NO PAU on May 22.

 

School Supplies for 2013-2014: Next year, the lower school will offer to purchase, gather and prepare all your child's school supplies. Please see the flyer that went home in last week's Friday folder. For $45 per student, the school will do the work for you! We encourage you to take advantage of this great opportunity. All paperwork must be returned to Kealoha by May 22.

 

Lost and Found: The end of the year is quickly approaching and the lost and found basket is overflowing! Please check the basket (located outside the office) for any items your child may be missing.

Conscious Discipline Education Series: Please join us tomorrow, Tuesday, May 14 at 9:30-11:30 a.m. in the lower school 'Ohana Room for the 8th session of this free nine-week series. This week we will be learning about "Consequences". Come and learn how to deliver effective consequences, the three types of consequences and when to use them; what to do when consequences don't seem to be working; strategis for family meetings and more.

 

Session 9 will be held on Tuesday, May 21. We will be learning about "The School Family". This will be our last meeting of the school year.

 

Each week a video presentation from Becky Bailey's DVD is followed by discussion with 3rd grade teacher Paige Brown. Parents, family members and friends are welcome to attend one or several sessions. MONTHLY MEETING: Friday, May 17 at 8:15 a.m. in the upper school First Hawaiian Bank Media Studio, located between the Business Office and the Headmaster's Office.This will be the last meeting of the school year, so don't miss your chance to meet the newest members of our Executive Committee and find out what we have planned for 2013-2014. Please check in with Lani at the front desk before proceeding to the meeting.

 

Parent Survey: At the end of each school year, PTSO asks for survey responses to help determine which programs and events to support and fund the following year. Congratulations to our golf team!  On Tuesday, May 7, Evan Kasberg scored an 81 and Max Elster 82. On Wednesday May, 8, Evan scored an 80 and Max 82. Evan placed 47th and Max 58th out of 96  boys that participated. Please congratulate them for their accomplishments when you see them.
