Help Promote Print

We often lament the plight of diminishing print volumes and attacks on our industry, but what are you doing about it?

Our industry and your firm will continue to be alive and well just as long as the business community realizes the power of print with its unique ability to get attention and motivate action.  The client may have a great website, but customers have to reach out for it - it doesn't reach out to them, but print does.  The client may be able to send emails to the whole world at negligible cost, but they don't get opened and read - print places itself in the hands of the audience.

Why not remind your audience of the power of print every time you touch them?  You want them to choose print so why not include the Choose Print logo in your every email, letterhead, invoice, quotation?  Choose Print should be your brand, your mantra.  It should remind the people that you touch of its power.  Pick up the logo from  www.chooseprint.org/logo and start to build your brand!
Invoke Dynamic Pricing

Airlines and hotels have pricing structures that constantly change in response to demand to maximize the dollars of revenue each month.  There is no reason why printers can't do the same - it's simply a matter of breaking out of the straight jacket of the estimating software.

It can include an upcharge for next day service as well as a discount for two week service.  The latter presents an interesting opportunity for building volume and therefore contribution to overhead.  Step out of your comfort zone and try it.
Denver Printing Sales Clinic

Program Overview

How long has it been since your salespeople improved their skills?  How much difference would it make to your top line and your bottom line if they improved each of the following skills by even 10 percent:

Prospecting skills: How to get face-to-face with the people who buy what you sell.

Questioning skills: How to probe for wants and needs and pain and problems.

Convincing skills: How to build real credibility as the relief for their pain or the solution to their problems.

Negotiation skills: How to put price in its place and keep it there

Time management/organizational skills:How to make the time and get organized to get to the next level.

Customer maximization skills: How to get all of the value from each customer relationship.

Secure Password Protection Plan

Hacking of corporate data and customer files is a serious concern in the United States.  Don't leave yourself vulnerable with passwords that can be easily broken.

Use a variety of upper and lower case letters, numbers and special characters. While you might not want to use a password that consists of a random string of characters that you won't be able to remember, you can use a mix of characters that makes sense and provides increased password strength.  For example, the password "beachhouse" is not very strong, but the password "B3@chH0u$3," which uses a few simple substitutions, is much stronger and retains a semblance of meaning.

Use a variety of passwords.
If you use the same password for everything, it would be an enormous hassle (or worse) if that one password became compromised.

Consider applying passwords to lock devices.  Many people think digital security only applies to online threats, but it's also necessary to keep your devices safe from people who may have direct physical access to them.  Imagine losing a phone, which you haven't protected with a password, and some unscrupulous individual finds it and now has access to a ton of personal information.

Beware of phishing scams.  A phishing same is a type of attack that attempts to trick a person into giving up their persona information.  This might involve a fake website that looks like a legitimate website. When a person lobs in to the fake website, they are actually supplying scammers with their login information to the legitimate website.  If you are suspicious, it's best to manually type in the URL that you're visiting.  Similarly, phishing scams can come in the form of emails asking you to supply confidential information.   An email like this, especially from someone you don't know, should always raise a red flag.
Three Tips To Keep Sexual Harassment At Bay At Your Workplace

1. Set the proper tone. As a manager, you have to be more consistently professional than your team members. Even if you think an off-color joke is inoffensive, you need to make clear that such things are inappropriate in the workplace.

2. Know how your team members relate. You already know who gets along and who doesn't, whose personality is more reserved, and whose emotional intelligence isn't so refined. It's vital that employees know that you understand and care how they relate to one another. This will make potential harassers think twice about their actions, and potential victims will be more confident that they have your support if an issue arises.

3. Break down gender barriers. Create opportunities for both genders to work side by side. A workplace where women have opportunities and respect is one where they're less likely to be seen as easy victims for harassment.
