Free member webinar!

It's not too late to sign up for tomorrow's FREE WEBINAR entitled Business Building: There's Gold In Them There Archives.

Like many printing companies, you probably have long-term archives of your customer's data. Could some of it be repurposed and delivered in new ways? Many organizations, both nonprofits and commercial enterprises, develop large archives over the years with still-valuable information locked up inside. This is especially true of books or other products with long shelf life. Web searches create much larger audience than ever existed before, and can make older, obscure, materials newly findable and more valuable than they ever were before. Illustrating with a recent case study, Mark Gross will discuss the issues in taking these archives and turning them into valuable, profitable assets and new profit streams.

You Will Learn

  • What sorts of material is of potential value in your archives
  • How another organization turned old archives into new business
  • How to identify sound business potential in archived data
  • How to work with clients to create this new business

Newspaper ads are still highly effective

Contrary to what you may have heard, print ads in newspapers are still highly effective. An article at www.choosprint.org digs into some of the latest research on the topic - including the fact that newspaper ads garner much more attention than online ads.

WSPA fully supports the Choose Print Campaign and our members can use any of the material from the Choose Print site in their own communication platforms.

Electronic Communications with Customers
According to Sales guru Leslie Groene, email has become the communication platform so it makes sense to take a look at your habits and style so as to enable a client or prospect to be able to contact you easily and quickly.  Create an email signature on your email platform so that every time you reach out or respond to a message, your name, phone number and company name is clearly listed on the bottom of the email.  This may sound obvious but you would be surprised how many people omit this information.  By adding the information on every email, it will make the response vehicle readily visible so when the customer wants to contact you by phone, they will not have to scroll back to look at a previous email or look up your information.

When leaving your phone number on a prospect or client's voice mail, leave it slowly (say it twice) and don't assume that they have it memorized.  This will make it easy for them to reach out to you if they have a question or need.

Lastly, don't direct the client to your office voice mail only then to instruct them to call you at another number, which requires them to write down an additional number and make two phone calls.  If you are successful in getting them to return your call, don't make them work too hard to reach you.

You can't do it all!

Lots of managers measure their importance by the number of direct reports they have.  But these same managers are often spread so thin that they can't pay enough individual attention to their employees or perform their other responsibilities capably.

Smart leaders follow the Rule of Seven: Don't manage more than seven people, maximum.  If you find yourself trying to supervise more than that, look for ways to reorganize your group - perhaps by delegating some management tasks to individuals with leadership potential.
