Catch up on our first PTSA meeting
We had our first full parent meeting on September 13th. If you weren't able to make it, don't worry, you can catch up with the agenda and presentation on the website. You can catch the next one on October 18th at ICS. There's a 6th grade parent meeting from 6-7 PM, followed by the general parent meeting from 7-8:30 PM. See the meeting schedule for a full list of parent meetings, principal chats, and board meetings.
If you prefer text reminders for upcoming PTSA meetings
Our phone tree volunteers are gearing up for another year of making sure our ICS families are aware of upcoming PTSA meeting information.
If you would prefer receiving a text with this information, please email Deepa Abraham with your child's name/grade and the preferred phone number to text.
Summer and Focus Week 2016 Pictures Needed
As the school year begins, the Yearbook club needs photos of ICS students during this past summer and/or Focus week 2016.  We are looking for great pictures with clear face shots and students doing interesting activities.  The photos should be at least 3MB and include a short description of who is in the picture, the grade, and what's happening.  All photos can be emailed to Laura WendtThank you for your help and we look forward to creating a fun and memorable 2016-2017 Yearbook. Questions?  Please contact Laura Wendt.
VOLUNTEERING
Volunteer Needed - Volunteer Coordinator
One person is needed for the Volunteer Coordinator position. Training will be provided this year and then they will take over the position next year.  Responsibilities include coordinating the volunteer sign-up process in September, and yearlong duties include: posting various volunteer opportunities in the ICS Newsletter, directing parents to find opportunities to fulfill their commitment, as well as coordinate with the PTSA Board of Directors, teachers and office staff as needed, and ensure that the volunteer hours report is accurate.
They may work from home and time commitment varies.  This person must be able to provide 24 hour turnaround on answering questions submitted via email, have excellent written communication skills, and basic knowledge of Excel to sort volunteer data.
If you are interested or would like more information, please contact Kathy Thompson, Volunteer Coordinator.

Coaches needed for middle school math club
The middle school math club is looking for a couple more coaches for this school year.  The math club is held on Wednesdays 12:30pm-1:30pm, and there may be additional sessions at other times for competition prep.  If you are interested and able to help, please email Roxana Drake.
CELEBRATING ICS
Parenthood - a Sonnet and Curriculum Challenge from Mr. Over
Mr. Ted Over, who teaches International Studies at ICS, sent us this fun sonnet to share with the parents. It's a humorous reflection on life as a parent, and you can play "spot the curriculum references" with your Humanities II and International Studies III students. View Parenthood here.
