Tips for Incoming Families and Students
Here are a few quick answers to common questions about starting out at ICS:
  • Supplies - there's no official list, so just get some basic such as backpack, binder, notebook paper, etc.  Teachers will have a list of any specific items needed for a class at Curriculum Night.
  • Clubs - there will be a club fair at school during the first few weeks of school and kids will have a chance to find out about and sign up for clubs.
  • Camp Cispus - attend the Camp Info Night to get a packing list and info about the trip.
  • School photos - photos are taken at registration
  • Carpools - 6th grade parents can take advantage of the 6th grade meet & greet to find other families who live in the same area and want to carpool. All parents can join the LWSD ICS Kirkland Facebook group to get in touch with other parents and set up carpools.
Attention Junior parents
It is a tradition at ICS that all Junior parents are in charge of the graduation ceremony for the Seniors.  As such, all junior parents are automatically members of the 2017/2018 Graduation Committee. The Graduation committee includes 3 co-chairs and a treasurer. This committee is a 1 to 2 year commitment and guaranteed to take care of your 30 volunteer hour requirement each school year.
Please email Mari Bercaw if you are interested in any of these positions.

Volunteering
Volunteer Opportunities
We post information weekly in this space about upcoming volunteer opportunities for parents. If you have not yet applied as a volunteer, go to the Volunteering with LWSD web page to fill out the forms and become an approved volunteer. Approvals are good for two years. Families are expected to complete 30 hours of volunteering each year at ICS.  Please register on the Volunteer Opportunity Interest List for no more than three areas.

If you don't already have an account on the website, you'll need to register, which can be done at www.icsptsa.org. The on-line volunteer interest list usually closes at the end of September. After that time, you will need to contact the Committee Chairs directly to see if they still need volunteers.
