FEDHH Conference Call for Proposals

Online Endorsement Program


Flagler College is thrilled to announce that its online endorsement program, Teaching ASL in the Public Schools, has been approved by the state of Florida. This five-course program allows practicing teachers to add the certification after successfully completing the program of study. Courses required are:
  • Foundations of Education of Students who are D/HH
  • American Sign Language in the Classroom
  • Methods of Teaching American Sign Language
  • American Sign Language Literature
  • The Linguistics of American Sign Language
All courses are offered online. Candidates for the program must have a score of at least 2.5 on the ASLPI. More information regarding this assessment may be found at: http://www.gallaudet.edu/asl-diagnostic-and-evaluation-services/aslpi
 
This endorsement may also be taken as part of an online Master's of Arts in Education of the D/HH offered by Flagler College. Description: RMTC-DHH is pleased to announce its first online training module, The Functional Listening Evaluation, is almost ready to be launched! Join us for this live webinar where you will learn about the contents of this module, what participants can expect to learn, and how you can be involved in launching this new program. The purpose of the FLE course is to learn how to perform a functional listening evaluation for a student with a hearing loss who is in an educational setting. We are seeking individuals who are interested in beta testing the course and providing us with feedback before we open it to the public. Please join us on Thursday, April 13 to learn more!

TED-ED - The TED-Ed project - TED's education initiative - makes short video lessons worth sharing, aimed at educators and students. Within TED-Ed's growing library of lessons, you will find carefully curated educational videos, many of which are collaborations between educators and animators nominated through the TED-Ed platform. [The ones I checked are captioned!]

ABCMouse.com - ABCMouse.com calls itself the most comprehensive learning site on Earth for kids ages 2 to 7. Your kids can read or listen to books and music, play games and color as they accelerate through customizable learning levels designed by teachers and experts. The site even tracks your child's progress as they learn. You can try out the site for free for a month; after that, the monthly subscription fee is $7.95.
