DeafTEC Regional WorkshopsThe Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind (FSDB) is providing professional development to teachers serving students with hearing loss in general education classrooms. The goal of the grant project, DeafTEC, is to increase students with hearing loss going into science, technology, engineering, and mathematics careers and college programs. The first workshop will be on October 24, 2015, in Orlando. A $100 stipend and in-service credit is available. Florida Cane Quest
 Florida students with visual impairments who use a white cane can participate in the Florida CaneQuest. The Cane Quest is a traveling competition designed to motivate students who are blind or low vision (Grades 3-12) to emphasize their safe travel skills. With a 2015 theme of "Where the Sidewalk Ends ... Florida Cane Quest Begins!", Cane Quest is: November 14, 2015, in Tampa, Florida. Deadline for registration is October 23, 2015. Online Survey for Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Stakeholders
As part of the Division of VR's efforts to improve employment outcomes for students with disabilities, a transition youth services survey has been developed to assess key practices throughout Florida that are resulting in successful relationships and collaborations. Feedback from various VR, exceptional student education and student services stakeholders will be used to identify best practices and gather suggestions for areas of improvement. An online survey link will be distributed to ESE Directors this week.

Save the Date: Communication Strategies for PreK TATS and ACCESS will be sponsoring a two-day workshop for teachers, paraprofessionals, and speech-languge pathologists working with PreK students who are nonverbal or have significant communication impairments. The presenter will be Philip Schweigert. Travel, accommodations, and substitute pay will be included for all participants.
