Last Day of School

Dear Parents!

I hope you and your children are in good health and great spirits.  I am certain the rainy weather we experienced in recent days has given birth to a robust and vibrant spring!

Last week our 6th and 7th Grade students were Confirmed and on Sunday, our 2nd graders made their First Holy Communion.  If you are a parent of these children, you experienced two rich sacraments that are underpinnings of our Catholic faith.

For me, bearing witness to Confirmation was awe-inspiring.   These students completed the sacrament of baptism as they were re-born to a new and supernatural life with the gift of the Holy Spirit. The students were well prepared for this beautiful experience.  Perhaps those in attendance vicariously felt they were reliving their Confirmation.

The First Holy Communion Mass was also beautiful.  I got to the church early to lend a hand at last minute preparations, as soon as I entered Campbell Hall; it was evident that the children were excited about their "big day."  There was a flurry of last minute grooming, primping, chattering, and the children waited patiently for Mass to begin.  Once Mass started, the children and their parents proudly and solemnly processed into church taking their places next to their Communion banners.  It was heart-felt to witness the children receive the Holy Eucharist.

St. John Paul II says that as a faith community, we are forming witnesses to the life of Christ, "The witness never refers to himself but to something, or rather, to Someone greater than he, whom he has encountered...Christ, Incarnate Son of God and perfect Man, as both model and means; to imitate him is, for all men and women, the inexhaustible source of personal and communal perfection."

Our teachers along with our parents have given the gift of Love to our children.

God Bless all of you,
Carla
Oh my God, in union with the Immaculate Heart of Mary I offer Thee the Precious Blood  of Jesus from all the altars throughout the world, joining with it the offering of my every thought, word and action of this day.
O my Jesus, I desire today to gain every indulgence and merit
I can and I offer them, together with myself, to Mary  Immaculate... that she may best apply them to the interests of Thy most Sacred Heart. Precious Blood  of Jesus, Save us! Immaculate Heart of Mary, Save us! Sacred Heart of Jesus, Have mercy on us! Amen.
